The dancing sketch wasn't funny until he started dancing. It really didn't make any sense at all. It was a high school basketball team at half time and they are losing terribly and talking about leaving and the coach wanted to play an "inspirational" song that his former coach played and it was really retarded, but Peyton gets into it and starts dancing hilariously. That was really the only funny part.
The part where he played a sports analyst for the N&O, yes, the N&O, was hilarious. It was a sports center program and peyton and this other fashion magazine editor had the best brackets in the nation and were talking about their picks and the main guy starts talking about how some of the teams were pulling a "petyon manning" and losing when they were supposed to be really good. And peyton's character is like "I don't get it" "why peyton manning", it was pretty funny. 3/26/2007 10:16:37 AM |

i caught about the first 20 minutes and thought it was pretty good...i was laughing when Peyton said the whole family was ashamed of his mom for not being good enough to play in the NFL
also the United Way commercial was funny as hell 3/26/2007 10:30:17 AM |

The TV Funhouse with Maraka was so funny I couldn't stop laughing. I'm glad they finally exposed Dora the Explorer like that.
Oh yeah, the United Way parody was great too.

Actually Mya Rudolph is half black. Her mother is the late 70's R&B singer Minnie Ripperton, and her father is some white man. I agree, though, that some of her impressions, particularly Oprah, aren't that good, but she's at her best as Donatella Versace.3/26/2007 5:17:45 PM |

^^ 3 of the sketches were the same as the Jamie Pressley episode
- Virginiaca Hastings has a white, hip-hop daughter - http://snl.jt.org/detail.php?i=200610078 - Lesbian newslady is attracted to young woman in a low cut top - http://snl.jt.org/detail.php?i=200610076 - Andy Samberg has a Kuato, but this time Scarlett Johansen is a kuato herself also. And Darrel Hammond shows up as Arnold Schwarzenegger - http://snl.jt.org/detail.php?i=2006100714 4/22/2007 10:44:02 AM |

They had reoccurring characters back in the old days, but they never came back THIS MANY TIMES. There were only a few Wayne's World skits for instance, but I think for the enter duration of Will Farrell being on SNL they had the Perfect Cheer every freaking time. Gets old. 4/25/2007 3:18:57 PM |
vinylbandit All American 48079 Posts user info edit post |
There were 20 Wayne's World sketches, and only 17 Spartan Spirit sketches.
Granted, Wayne's World is much funnier and less tedious than the Spartans, but Lorne has always been big on recurring characters if they go over. ] 4/25/2007 4:56:51 PM |
agentlion All American 13936 Posts user info edit post |
yeah, that's crap. As usual, it's just a case of a short memory. SNL has always done reoccuring characters, and stuck with the good ones for long runs. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Recurring_Saturday_Night_Live_characters_and_sketches_%28listed_chronologically%29
I think the main complaint about the most recent episode with Scarlett Johansen is that it showed a lack of creativity compared to the Jamie Pressley episode. With those two particular episodes, it was almost like they said "hmm... we have a young, incredibly hot blond hosting.... what can we do. I know! 'Lesbian reporter', because she's so hot, and it'd be funny to have an older, not as attractive woman attracted to her. What else….. 'Big black woman with a white, hip-hopified step-daughter!', you know, because it's funny when white girls act black. And….. I guess something with Kuato too"
I still thought it was a good episode, though. Scarlett did well. 4/25/2007 5:08:48 PM |

yeah, as a side note, I just saw Lost in Translation for the first time last weekend, and really like her in that. I think her and Rachel McAdams are two of the best young actresses out there - far and away better than most other's in their "category", which I suppose would include the likes of Lindsay Lohen and, ummm.... Jessica Simpson? just not even in the same league.... 4/25/2007 5:32:26 PM |
vinylbandit All American 48079 Posts user info edit post |
Lindsay Lohan is fantastic. That's how she gets away with all the shit she pulls. She's too good to fire, even when she fucks up the shooting schedule. She's much better than Rachel McAdams. ] 4/25/2007 5:38:47 PM |
