Wow, I can't believe it was that close. I was seriously expecting a beatdown of atleast 40 points considering ECU's last game was a 19 point loss to Winthrop (though they are actually good) and the last road game was a loss to 2-8 Morgan State.

we had no depth, AGAIN, and lots of 1st half turnovers...i think any Division 1 team should be able to compete with that happening...W is a W, and ECU has never beaten us.

GO PACK!

What happened to McCaully between last year and this year?

PS: Holy crap I was just looking at the ESPN scoreboard, check out this score:
Grambling State (2-5) 27
(12)Texas A&M (11-2) 101

That was the lowest point total for a team at halftime in NCAA history (Since the introduction of the shot clock)

Yeah, that game was bad... and to make it worse, I think St. Johns was pretty terrible that year

I watched the game at a bar so I could not hear. how bad was Gotlebie? Did the announcers mention how Atsur is doing?

Grant should not take 3pters no matter how open he is. he was 2-8 tonight. which brings him down to 27% on the year. he was 20% last year. and 26% his freshman year. he's much better driving and dishing or getting to the foul line.

3pters on the season:
Niemen= 14%
Fells= 29%
Costner= 35%
Horner = 43%
Atsur = 43%
Ferguson = 50%

Brandon Costner needs to either be more confident in shooting 3 pointers or he needs to be allowed to shoot more 3 pointers

why? because 3 pointers won this game for us, not our new OMFG DID YOU SEE THAT DUNK?!?! offense

That was the best adjustment of the game. Once Fells was plugged to run the offense at the top and let Grant run around instead of the other way around, we got more open threes and more opportunities on the inside to McCauley. That said, Costner's fade away three and Fells' running jumper with two defenders on him, both with the clock running out and late in the game, both those plays won and sealed the game for us. Good job guys.

he needs to never set his feet when he is shooting threes. He makes every one that he just pulls up from running or turns and shoots.

^yeah, the idiots next to me kept yelling to stop passing the ball and take a shot . . . and to bring back herb

That was i 2004. St. Johns almost beat Duke that year and I believe they DID beat the eventual national champions, UConn. They were a legitimate Top 6 conferece team, though we did play like ass that game. A loss to a shitty as hell ECU team would have been far, far, far worse imo..

[Edited on December 28, 2006 at 11:07 PM. Reason : they played uconn tough at least.. i remember sweating bullets that night.]

I think you're mixed up...they did play Duke relatively close (58-47), but lost 68-46 to UConn.

That year they went 9-18 (3-13).

Ah, well that SJU team would have wiped the floor with ECU.. where do you find that information? Is their a site like the college football one? I guess I got my years mixed up..

http://www.kenpom.com/sked.php?y=2005&team=St.%20John's

It doesn't go as far back to cfbdatawarehouse, but it's pretty useful for the past few years.

besides the few comments about our fans, the announcers were pretty hillarious at times...

Announcer 1 to Announcer 2

"Um, thats what you call a make-up foul."

Announcer 2 to Announcer 1

"lol"

I also enjoyed how they kept referring to Horner as a walk-on.

Even said that he had previously been a walk-on at another school.

i agree fells at point instead of grant was a big improvement.. grant is better at moving without the ball and fells has handles every bit as good as gavin.

one problem i noticed tonight was that our passing seemed off. We telegraphed most our passes and didnt seem very organized in our set plays, which led to several ECU steals and break aways

sorry if this was already linked. it's a good read on why Fells moved to PG:

http://www.gopack.com/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=9200&ATCLID=735274

Gavin is not a SG either. Hopefully Ferguson can play SG on Saturday and move Grant to the 3 where he is at his best.
