I was eyeballing some of these. Does the brand matter? I was temped to buy the flex head gear wrenches, but is there a cheaper "lifetime" brand? I know I won't use them all that much.

We have craftsman ones and they have held up great. I would stay away from the cheaper versions of the ones that swivil cause they seem flimsy but the fixed ones shouldnt matter.

For the flex head ones, supposedly they make a claim to be decent. There is a mechanism in the head to keep it at the angle you adjust it to instead of flopping around.

Thanks for the input though. I have been temped here and there to buy a ratchet set, but after seeing these things, I wonder if I really need the ratchets.

i would recoommend non-locking swivleing ones as opposed to locking. they are tight enough to not flop around for no erson but give you more flexibility IMO
