got this game earlier today, played it for an hour or so after work, this game picks up right where God of War 1 ended and doesnt disappoint at all

the graphics are great just like the first one - I cant imagine how this would look in HD

Just finished the first level. It was one hell of an intro. I don't know if Sony is involved with 300, but the cross-promotional opportunity is pretty obvious, even if they are completely different stories.

i haven't played ps2 since i've gotten my high def lcd. this game looks bad. really bad. is there some setting i need to change or should i just play it on my old tv?

^You can turn on progressive scan and widescreen aspect ratio and it will look good again. For some games, when they boot up you can hold Triangle and X to turn on progressive scan, but you only need to do this for older games that don't have the menu option.

I am not sure if all PS2s support this though, it may only be newer ones / PS3.

The game is so much bad ass I don't know how to explain it any further. Everything is pretty much flawless, and it's definitely the over-cliched "swan song" of the PS2. This game does not disappoint.

I finally beat the game yesterday on Spartan (normal) level, definetly a badass game on par or better than the first

one thing that I was wondering about are the 'Urns' that you supposedly gather during the game, I went completely through the game without finding a single urn. I started playing the game again in Bonus Mode to see if I can find them in that mode. Has anyone else found any?

I found one urn, but have no idea how to use it. I also don't know how to select the new costumes. And those titan challenges are fucking HARD. I beat the first one but can't seem to get any air kills in the 2nd one. I'm not even sure what they call an air kill, since I have killed dudes by tossing them in the air and attacking them, and also using jump attacks while they're on the ground.

I've only just begun, but the first urn is pretty early in the game where you're in the hallways and have to kick the pedestal with the bird on top of it to sit on top of a lever. After you've gone through the first gate, there's a long hallway to your right instead of going straight through to the chest. Take the pedestal with you to the right, break apart the bird on top of the pedestal and push it to the end of the hallway, jump on top of the pedestal and jump up to the ledge, you'll find three chests up there.

I beat the game last night. That game was so great. I was pissed at certain points because I didn't get all of the chests, but the game was great. My fav boss battle: the Sisters of Fate. It took me a while to beat them.

I'll probably beat God of War II again, then play God of War I to appreciate God of War II even more.

ok, I'm really early in the game (I just got those horses to pull the islands together), but I have only found one eye and two feathers. I know I have missed some. They are much harder to find on GoW II than the first.

This game is unreal. The whole opening scene w/colossus and Zues is a truly great intro the the story. I was wondering exactly how they would tie everything in.

The additional combos on this game are an A+. I'm loving the L1+Square combo. I got 141 combo hits. (spartan level).

Question. In that ICE room with the Rock guy that blows freezing wind (that you later shoot with the bow & arrow), there is a room with a fire and treasure chests. The enemies kept jumping out, and I fought for about 10 minutes straight, but couldnt ever do anything in that room. How do you get to those treasure chests??

Im stuck. In the circular room with two pressure switches. You can put a body on the center one but the second to the left has a bit of a raised gate that you cant carry the body over. I try using my time thingie but it wont let me even though I have a full bar. WTH.

is that the one with the water running behind the circular room where you find the body originally?

if it is, you have to put the body in the water and it will drift to the other side where you need to pick it up and then place it on the pressure switch in the middle


then you go over to the other switch, press it, hit the time orb and go through

well I fought that fat ass Medusa last night.

Beat her and saved right after that. I should be getting close to the sisters of fate.

My only gripe so far is that I can easily save up my "Rage" until a boss, and then easily take out a boss like I did with the guy on the horse and the rock minotaur. 50+ hits in a matter of seconds.

Anyone else know what I am talking about?

Im just after you and have just fully upgraded my blades but I have a few complaints.


Ive gotten stuck in a few places, like behind the chest and cliff where you fight the midgets on the backs of those giants.

The ONLY roll + attack is some bullshit triangle power hit. The roll and launch someone in the air in GoW1 was my favorite move.

The combos seem a whole lot worse than the first.

You can only pull two mid air L1 moves where in GoW1 you could pull off three no problem.

I hate the L1 triangle mid air, no more powerful windmill thing for killing a single huge target, just some crap land on the ground move.


Unless you can upgrade your blades beyond max or something the controls just dont live up to GoW1 for me.

so i just beat the game lastnight


you guys are gonna be impressed

i think the controls are better than GOW1, if you have your blades unlocked, you should be able to use the Icarus Lift to throw your enemy in the air and then pummel his ass with L1 and O over and over again


i can get 25 hits in the air alone doing that

Damn, I've only upgraded my weapons (the red refill thing) ~3 times? How many is maxed out?

and I have yet to upgrade my magic bar by finding all of the feathers (I need one more), and I have only upgraded the life bar once. I have to be missing something.

4 to max. I have one of each upgrade and am like one away from another for each. Just hit EVERYTHING to see ifit breaks and try to check every corner, they like to hide chests in no so obvious places that you might just run by

aight, Im deep in the game, and I am stuck in the spot where you are in this room with a timer and spikes that come out of the floor. If you break the wall, there is a time stopper, but I dont have enough time to turn the crank all the way. (its the crank where the soldier is hunched over, holding some diamond shaped object).

How do you get past this point?

^ you have to pull the lever to make the spikes go down, quickly run over to the crank and crank it around 360 degrees. then quickly activate the amulet to make time slow down and you should be good to go to the next room. i ignored the chests since it took me so long to to figure that out, i didn't feel like having to do all that over again if i died.
