you can get a six month lease at a lot of places. it is not as difficult to find as she's trying to make it sound.

you can def. find a sub lease or roomie situation for that length of time.

^ i'll let her stay through january, as long as she pays me for january.

Man...ok, so you did your best to help her but she sounds like some privilaged stuck up bitch who can't get her head out of her ass to see the situation she's in.

Dump her shit on the lawn, dude...she's not worth it. A person's home is their domain, and when going through a break up the last thing you want is for the ex to be spreading animosity in the place you sleep.

Think of it this way: She needs a wake up call in life. You're the one to give it to her. In the end, you're doing her a favor!

I'd help, if I can be around to watch her reaction when she returns.
I also have lots of boxes I need to get rid of.

I don't think that's the case here because they are romantically involved. Legally, she lives there just like you do. You can't simply kick her out. I don't know how exactly the law works in this case, but it can get pretty complicated.

However, I doubt any of that matters b/c it sounds like she doesn't want to be there any more than you want her there.

legally -

you give proper notice and reasoning and she has to leave...like any other eviction if she doesnt own any % of the house. 30 days is plenty from when you first told her.

Sure it does. It makes it a domestic situation rather than a landlord/tenant relationship.

the only law that i'm aware of that covers anything like that is common law marriage, which doesn't apply in this case.

Yeah, because if they were married, it would be so much easier for them to just separate for a year, divorce, her file for alimony and end up with half his money and house, etc....

i have to imagine the point trying to be made was that - they would have broken up before it got to marriage due to the reasons he's kicking her out - he never would have proposed to her in the first place...but maybe you are right and he's just an idiot...

^ they won't listen.

I've been the guy with the psycho girlfriend, and i've been the guy who tried to tell a buddy. I didn't listen to my friends, and my buddy didn't listen to me either (actually, he's a regular poster here, he can out himself if he wants).

It's one of those things that you have to figure out for yourself.

How do you not tell you're living with a psycho immediately? Should be pretty easy to tell if someone is acting "not normal at all".

You're telling us you've never been in a situation where emotion/booty clouded your judgment?

If you have feelings for someone, you tend to disregard the usual little flags that pop up here and there. Sometimes you make a conscious decision that it's not important. Sometimes you unconsciously make the decision to overlook certain tell-tale signs that the one you're with hasn't got their shit together in a manner you'd prefer.

Only time and experience temper those emotions. Over time, a long-term relationship becomes much less of that overly-romantic newfound infatuation and more like equal parts business partner, best friend, and lover. But in the beginning, it has that "flare"...

I dunno, there was a time period when I dated lots of guys and the reason why they were just dates is because I knew they weren't right or someone I could handle for a very long time.

Psycho bitches suck, I think they're easier to distinguish than men, but maybe that's because I'm a female and have that bitch radar...

That and women are much more highly competitive among themselves. It's been my experience that they can be much more objective, or at least much more liberal with the "cold, hard observations" toward other women.

But I realize that's a gross generalization.

trust me.. it'll be taken care of soon enough...

i dont wanna change the locks and throw her shit out... sad as it may sound to some, i still care about her... i've realized that we dont belong together, but i still respect her (somewhat) as a human being. i'm not gonna back down in my decision that i want her to leave and that things are over between us, but i plan to keep it as civil as possible because i really hate drama. i'm gonna give her till the end of january (roughly 30 days)...

i offered again today to help her find a place, pack her stuff, and move it.. but she said that's humiliating.. guess there are some things about women that i'll never understand.

dude, she's totally taking advantage of any feelings you have for her by making you feel guilty about throwing her out.

Here's the law...

If she has lived there for more than 30 days (and can prove it... key thing here) you have to give her 2 weeks notice for eviction. You need to have her SERVED with papers... aka registered mail. So you can prove in court if her ass fights you.

On top of this you can actually sue for January's rent. Ain't that a bitch .

Tell her that she has two weeks to find a place and move. Be stern about this. She obviously had no self respect or care for you. She's playing on your kindness.

A notice of eviction can be very simple... and crude.

"Bitch (her name) you have 2 weeks to get the fuck out of my (your name) house (address).

Sincerely,

Me".

Believe it or not, that's legal.

However, many people have the right idea. You can change the locks but you can't protect your car. Go buy a $200 car and drive it for a couple weeks lol.

lol.. i drive a beat up '91 vw jetta.. not $200, but worth maybe $1200... but, hell, it's paid for and insurance is cheap.

i dont feel guilty.. she's trying, but its not working.. but i'm not gonna put her out on the street.. i think she's planning on looking for an apt. tomorrow or over the weekend..

This shit didn't work for me...I broke up with my bf, but he wasn't going to leave for like 6 months. He became really annoying and hostile and we got into a physical fight actually (he started it). His ass got kicked out. Dunno how the guy I'm dating lives with his ex. But you could always provoke her like I did him to provide a pretext, but I wouldn't recommend it...

Who is sleeping on the couch???

I bet you will bwn again if you sleep in the same bed the rest of the month.

On a serious tip though you cannot legally change the locks on her, in fact, since she has established residency at your place your only legal recourse assuming she does not leave is by filing an eviction in court. If you changed the locks on her and she called the cops they would make you let her in and then tell you both to work it out in civil court.

If she starts being a shithead then make her life a living hell and bet she leaves faster.
