Tom Brady was a 6th round draft pick.Teams should trade all their 1st round picks for 6th round picks so they can find more players like Tom Brady.[Edited on January 15, 2007 at 7:11 PM. Reason : ]

I dont know why you people are arguing about one star recruits coming to StateO'Brien got a late start on recruiting, I'm fine with hoping some of the no-names pan out since we arent really losing any of chuck's recruits. Plus.....WE HAVE BEEN WAY UNDER THE SCHOLARSHIP LIMIT FOR A COUPLE OF YEARS NOW...WHO GIVES A FUCK IF WE GET A COUPLE OF SHIT PLAYERS.and...this RB from NY had really good stats and was all-state..and he's fast. stfu
1/15/2007 7:19:24 PM
That's why you don't get rid of guys like cignetti and portee
1/15/2007 7:23:01 PM
portee is old and probably finished with his career. i'm sure TOB will keep him around in some aspect, likely administration if portee would want too. cignetti would be a loss, but what is the love obsession with our former staff? What did they do that was so damn great?I am excited about a staff with a base unity already and not a staff full of guys from different programs. Staff cohesion is BIG.[Edited on January 15, 2007 at 7:27 PM. Reason : 1222222]
1/15/2007 7:26:56 PM
cignetti was recruiting coordinator, Portee is a great coach, but alas, they have been booted to the curb. Sure chuck was a bad coach, but other coaches were better than the coaches now.
1/15/2007 7:28:30 PM
wasn't the rumor that archer wanted to keep cignetti on defensive staff?
1/15/2007 7:29:01 PM
cignetti and portee are no longer listed as members of the coaching staff.

1/15/2007 7:40:44 PM

1/15/2007 7:49:03 PM
4.5 is obviously slow
1/15/2007 7:50:25 PM
the point is, no matter how much you think you know about the current state football situation, you don't know as much as TOB. no matter how much you think you know about coaching and recruiting in college football, you don't know as much as TOB. i'm not saying that you cannot criticize a coach, but don't act like he's doing it wrong and you know how to do it right.
1/15/2007 7:51:48 PM
Your right. up until we hired TOB, I knew more about the state of State football and what was needed. I guess we just developed some linebackers and safeties over on Centenial campus and we're all set in that position. and yes, 4.5 measurement from a high school coach is slow. That typically translates into a 4.8-5.0 40 speed if acurately done as they typically are done at camps.
1/15/2007 7:53:35 PM

I just became dumber reading this post. Whining about punters and running backs. Dude nutcancr thanks for a STUPID post. I think Nathan Franklin from my HS will be kicking next year, then again I know bradley as well and someone said he has been booting the hell out of the ball lately.

^^^You do realize that these 40 speeds everyone parrots are on par to be world record paces that no olympic athlete has ever been timed at doing?^you missed the point. We are set at punter and kicker, we need line backers and safeties and we have two scholarships left now. Why waste one on a juco punter from cali?

^^wrong. a 4.5s 40 time converts into a little over a 10 second 100m time, of which only the top sprinters in the world can do. you can't hit full speed immediately from the opening shot, and almost all of the first 40 yards is spent trying to accelerate the body to top speed.[Edited on January 15, 2007 at 8:41 PM. Reason : people claiming 4.2 and 4.1 40 times should have their head examined]
1/15/2007 8:40:47 PM
in any event 10 second 100m are realitivly common...which is why I giggled well that and the conspiracy theory that is football coaches.(while I argee times are exaggerated .... 5 tenths of a second ? I mean give me a break 5.0 is middleof the pack lineman speed)[Edited on January 15, 2007 at 8:48 PM. Reason : .]

I'm willing to bet Toney Baker doesnt run a 4.5 anymore, but nobody's bitching about having him playing for us. This NY RB that we just landed averaged 8.6 yards per carry and was all-State. Look at that rather than the 40 time dipshits. Plus, he played Linebacker for his high school team as well. All of you go to hell....LOCK

a 10.4s 100m time is not a 10s 100m time. quit mistaking them. that digit after the decimal makes a hell of a difference. If you are so sure that there is a high school student somewhere out there that has a flat 10 second 100m time, then why don't you just look on some of the national registries? you'll have trouble finding flat 10 second 100m times at most college universities.

why can you not fathom that the entire fucking point of this thread is to show the imporatnce of outliers in college athletics. schools that don't have their pick of athletes (ie us) have to make their money finding "diamonds in the rough" or outliers.for TOB to succeed he has to develop the ability to find outliers before other people do.1500 is a far cry from 2100.... there's been a lot of 1500 yard backs in the NFL. as I said, dont be a moron[Edited on January 15, 2007 at 9:52 PM.
