saw this with some high school friends. dont remember what happened, or there even being a plot... i was bored out of my mind. perhaps it's better on a second viewing, but i'll pass. feel free to love it though. 1/22/2007 2:11:00 PM |

I'm watching The New World right now - another Terrence Malick flick.
It looks way too similar. 3/5/2007 10:11:46 PM |

It's just as good, if that's what you mean. 3/5/2007 10:40:54 PM |

The fact that great directors have a recognizable style infuriates me to no end as well. 3/5/2007 11:17:02 PM |

The style is great.
The long silent walking shots in nature with a steadicam and soft narration just reminds me of his last movie.
Spielberg didn't put any shark POV shots in Schindlers List. 3/5/2007 11:36:33 PM |

Malick likes to linger on characters to allow us to enter the experience. He doesn't make this scene to make a point, gets it accomplished, then moves on the next scene and repeat... that's very Speilberg-esque. All told, I can completely understand how boring it might come across to those unwilling to participate. 3/8/2007 12:15:29 AM |

I watched The New World in HD the other day. It looked so much better than the first time I saw it. They should totally have an HD channel devoted to playing only his films. 3/8/2007 5:43:03 PM |
