coach is nasty
but dont forget Odom has missed like half the season whereas (to my knowledge) Jamison and Butler have played all year
also, for what its worth, Arenas, Jamison and Butler are all top 15 fantasy players...doesnt necessarily mean anything, except all of them put up good numbers
fucking Caron Butler...I hated his guts when he hit those 3 FTs to beat Jules and fam back in 01?02? but he's on my fantasy team shooting like 88% from the line 1/26/2007 4:32:12 PM |

what did he get suspended for? bashing the fuck out of ginobli's face when he shot that jumper vs SAS the other day? i dont know why he would get suspended for an obviously blatant flagrant foul that was merely glanced over during the game 1/30/2007 4:33:39 PM |

We were watching the game when it happened...in live action you couldn't really notice it (nor did the refs) because everybody was watching the ball to see if it went in since it was late in the 4th quarter...but right after Kobe shot it, he backhanded/elbowed/backpunched the shit out of Ginobli's face...and Ginobli is a dirty player but you could tell Kobe clearly did it on purpose...he is the big bad Kobe Bryant, and he was taking the final shot for his team, and Manu blocked him...so he was pissed and backlashed at him...its obvious in the replay...I guess the league is just acknowledging that the refs dropped the ball by not seeing it...I could care less but I guess I would if I had money on the game 1/30/2007 4:52:09 PM |

He flopped his arms out, most likely trying to draw a foul.
He wouldn't have checked on Manu to make sure he was alright if it was done on purpose.
Even the Spurs didn't make a deal of it, and they're not exactly the biggest Laker fans.
He deserved a fine, but not a suspension. And now they're losing to the Knicks in the 4th. I'm sure the Knick fans are pissed. 1/30/2007 9:33:20 PM |

At best, it was a reckless, dangerous play by Kobe. At worst, it was a dirty blatant swing.

it looked the exact same as the ginobli thing
he caught him with his right hand in the face
i was willing to believe the ginobli thing was incidental, but twice in 1 year makes me think otherwise
though maybe jaric thought the same thing and flopped knowing no one would believe kobe did this 'accidentily' twice

better players back then?
i'm not saying people like Bird and Magic (though they were at the ends of their careers when Jordan hit his prime) arent better than players nowadays...but I think the overall talent level of the 15th man on the bench is definitely better nowdays
Course I'll never get tired of this:
btw its funny that when making your argument that team basketball was more prevalent back in the day, you happen to use Jordan as an example...Jordan, a player who regularly broke players down 1-on-1 by playing as an individual

they have zone defense now, that’s a pussy defense for the nba. Sorry, I have had this argument like a year ago and I restate what I said then, I'd put the players of the 90s against the guys now. You know the 90's would win.
I'm glad AI will be remembered for that one moment

i know you're a t-mac fan, but even if he was healthy for an 82 game season you gotta admit he doesnt quite have the drive for the game that some of the other stars have...he has ALL the potential in the world...even more than some players like kobe i think since he is a lot taller/longer...he just SO FAR hasnt shown the will and determination to take it to the next level
The mental part of the game is what separates the physically gifted stars from the physically gifted superstars...the ballers who make the playoffs from the ballers who win playoff series's...etc]3/17/2007 1:09:16 AM |

i dont necesarily agree about better coached, but i'll give you all the other ones
but i'm not comparing t-mac to players of the past...im comparing him to the kobes, wades, jkidds...even the billups, etc....to me mcgrady seems like one of the few players who actually fits the "lazy and just playing for the money" stereotypes of nba players that i'm usually quick to defend 3/17/2007 1:23:20 AM |

i see where you are coming from but i wouldnt mistake not having that peak mental drive for being lazy and just playing for the money...he possesses every tool you could ever want in a player (maybe he could make a few more free throws ahaha) but he desperately wants to be on a team that is a player, he just needs to realize that he is the guy that needs to make the rockets that player...his offense leaves nothing to be questioned and i don't think his D does either, as he was the lock down defender in toronto...i really think they can do some damage this year especially if they can get utah in the first

The DREAM TEAM is a name that should be fucking RESERVED for that 1992 lineup and never used again (though I don't mind the '96 team being called Dream Team II, but it should absolutely stop there). Every Team USA Basketball squad is NOT the Dream Team. 2000 wasn't a dream team, 2004 sure as shit wasn't a dream team, and 2008 won't be a dream team no matter how seriously Colangelo & the crew take it. 3/17/2007 1:47:24 PM |

back in 92 we werent competing against Dirk Nowitski, Steve Nash, Manu Ginobli, Pao Gasol, Yao Ming, Carlos Arroyo, Peja Stojacovic, etc
international talent has grown substantially over the last 15 years...no way in hell Dream Team 1 goes on their run like they did where their smallest margin of victory was 37 points...they would get tested a lot more 3/17/2007 5:40:47 PM |
