how is serving as both a state and federal congressman, sucessfully running a law firm and being a constitutional law professor not equate with qualification or experience?
What qualified Ronald Reagan, or Bob dole, or any number of people you supported or like, or whatever? 2/1/2007 6:38:42 PM |

so now, in order to be president you must have served as a governor? Better get that constitutional amendment passed then. Let's not play games here. If obama was a republican you'd be throwing your life at him.
I like the man, I like what he stands for. In my mind, that makes him qualified to serve as president. 2/1/2007 6:42:54 PM |

Perhaps you'd like to mention how Texas is a gubernatorially weak state so your boy had little power and little say as to how the state was run. And how many businesses did he tank before becoming prez? Yeah, talk about qualified... 2/1/2007 6:45:01 PM |

Quote : | "As is the trend in many Southern states, the Governor's power is quite limited. With the exception of the Secretary of State, the remaining members of the Governor's cabinet are also elected by popular vote. In addition, because the Lieutenant Governor runs on a separate ticket, the Governor and Lieutenant Governor can be (and have been) from different political parties.
Another limitation on gubernatorial power involves the commutation of prisoner sentences, an issue which arises whenever a death penalty sentence is to be carried out. The Governor can only overturn a death sentence upon the positive recommendation of the Texas Board of Pardon and Parole, the Governor can choose to ignore the Board's clemency recommendation and carry out the execution, but the opposite is not true—the Governor cannot commute or overturn a sentence if the Board does not recommend such. The only unilateral option the Governor has is to issue one, 30-day stay of execution." |

We coach Little League in the Blue States and yes, we got some gay friends in the Red States. There are patriots who opposed the war in Iraq and patriots who supported the war in Iraq. Our country has pulled very few presidents out of the senate. Obama needs some experience as a governor first. Show us that he can be the executive of a smaller state before we hand him the entire country.
Of course even with that, I'd never vote for someone with such a liberal voting record. 2/1/2007 7:47:15 PM |

Oh. That has no bearing on what he is though.
If a white person marries a black person, that doesn't make the white person non white.
Or maybe i'm still confused about what you're saying...
If his wife is black, with black parents, then his kids would be approximately 3/4 black and 1/4 white.

Edwards doesn't really compare to Obama.
Obama is hyped up, but if anyone deserves it, it's him. Initially at least, he was a fairly straight-shooter. He hasn't done anything too bold since that I can recall, but he's far better than Edwards.
^^ Good article. I think this part is worth requoting here:

I'm thinking this is either based on a) because she backed a universal health plan (THE HORRORS!) or b) because bitch=extremists.
I'm not voting for her, but I don't understand why she's an EXTREMIST in the eyes of so many people that aren't exactly far-right Republicans.

Well then that's a pretty sad definition of extremism you have going there.
I'd define it as trying to disrupt the poltical order of the nation entirely. Has she done that?
