i agree w/ this, but at the same time it's impressive that they got so many fans out on the streets when nobody should even be out there.

i keep hearing about how great state fans were back in the day and how hillsborough would go nuts, but after the win against UNC last week i'm wondering what happened. there were far less people out there than i would have expected considering it is a signature win for current state kids to say they were there when we beat a #3 UNC team. i walked down hillsborough twice, went into mitch's for a beer and by then traffic was flowing normally again......on a saturday night! wtf? we should've been out there drinking at the bars and partying all night.

who is to blame for state's fan base not being able to celebrate a win. i blame stafford and RPD, who else is on the list? or are state fans just not as passionate today? (which i don't really buy into)

Its not that we dont go out, its just that the bar scene in Raleigh isnt that great. I love our music scene in Raleigh, but the bars just cant compete with a good old fashion NC State multi kegger.

chicken and the egg... I think the bar/club scene sucks because people dont go out. A University of approx. 30,000 students in what is a really big city for a college to be located in should have tons of bars and at least 4-5 clubs nearby. Hell since I have been here there have been at least 4 places in the spot that City Limits is at now. Its the worst out of all of them but its lasting because its not geared towards a college crowd. All the other places there were and they all failed. Fahrenheit had a really nice setup, good staff, good drink specials etc but no one ever showed up.

I bet the on campus is about the same, state has an assload of dorms. The problem is that no one lives near campus. Its either on campus, or down avent ferry or western, too far to walk.

I don't understand the house party thing when you're 21 or 22 years old. That was something I did when I couldn't go out to the bars since I was 18 or 19. For a game or something I'm all for getting a keg or two and having a bunch of people over but I'll be damned if I want to deal with the threat of having RPD coming and potentially breaking up whatever party I'm at on my Friday or Saturday night.

21+ers at State can't possibly be so broke they need to stay in all the time. The Raleigh bar scene is what you make it. I don't do clubs really but there are plenty of decent bars to go out to that are busy on the weekends. I mean Glenwood South is packed out every weekend night.. If you can't have a good time out in Raleigh that's your fault, not the bar scene.

bar scene in hippyville is good though (walnut creek is actually yuppyville but I got a stereotype to live up to)

Raleigh is definitely a bar town, hardly any clubs at all but i just dont get it, people just flat out dont like to go out as much here.
