I'm just a 'stupid Yankee' but I would MUCH rather make the NCAA Tournament than beat UNC once a year. Once you make the tourney anything can happen. Just me... Not that they are mutually exclusive or anything but I personally think people spend too much time worrying about them and not enough time supporting the Pack.

** and to m2c.. there is no doubt in anyones mind that asu will be a good program. i mean they have their best recruiting class ever coming in next year (scout.com has them at #11 in the country). The question is can Herb get them over the hump he couldn't get NC State over? Time will tell but I'm inclined to say no..

Not in the least. There are plenty of great programs who don't make that many Final Fours. We only have 3 in our 50+ year history. UConn has 2. Making the tourney is a much more realistic annual goal. The problem starts when you consistently underperform in the tournament, which is where the gripes with Herb make sense.

yea but you have to think about the recent past, we've been to the ncaa tournament 5 years in a row made it to the sweet 16 once (and lost to wisconsin of all teams). in the same time UNX has been handing our ass to us. most of us knew we weren't gonna make the NCAA this year anyway, so we'll take the win over the tarholes as the silver lining

Well like I said, I have to deal with these people! We lose, I hear comments from friends and family. It's gotten old in the past three years. Don't get me wrong, I loved getting to the tournament, but when you leave early and were swept by your top rival, you don't have much to be proud of. No matter what happens, we have something to smile about this year though.

i have watched every televised game and listened to the rest online.

i can say that they make every game exciting. "how can a game be exciting when only 55 points are scored?" you say. they are consistently down by ~10 at the half then always tie it up around the 5 minute mark in the 2nd half. they are one Senior or one great shooter away from winning some of those games.

Oregon, the first UCLA game, Washington, Oregon State, Cal, Wazzou, Minnesota, and MANY others were very winnable.

watch tonight's game if you can. it should be entertaining.

- come out strong
- build up a lead
- come out slow in the 2nd half, allowing the lead to be cut significantly
- spend the last 12 minutes trying to "run the football" even though theres a shot clock and the other team was scoring...running the shot clock down to a couple seconds and having atsur jack up a 30 footer

I love when people have no grasp on what another person is saying and comment on it anyway. One innocuous comment does not equal a rant and I celebrate everytime we beat UNC -- it's absolutely great when we do.

People who think a season is made by one or two games are idiots though and I stand by that. It's the same loser mentality that a lot of Red Sox fans had and it pissed me off. Oh well, we beat the Yankees in the regular season series. Season was a success. Meanwhile the Yankees were piling on on the pitchers mound again at the end of October.
