^that one was taken care of in the original post, but would definitely be at the top of the list. its lack of diversity is what the 80s were all about. did life imitate art, or art imitate life?

For those of you who haven't seen Student Bodies yet, shame on you.

That movie is fucking weird.

^^^ Hey! That was a good one! Kurt Russell talked a little like John Wayne in that one, and it had some martial arts, mysticism, and comedy. It's hard to pull off such a mix.

gymkata has been brought up in many college drunken arguments as possibly the worst movie ever made, if you have not seen it, it is worth it for a laugh

if i remember correctly it takes place in the fictional country of Parmistan!

Others....

Hamburger The Motion Picture - It's tasty, by God!
Valley Girl - Nicholas Coppola, not cage.... COPPOLA!! (kick ass soundtrack, fyi)
Zapped! - (this may have been mentioned, but it has chachi in it)
My Bodyguard - Maybe not quirky, but fan-fucking-tastic movie
The Flamingo Kid - another of the great 80s matt dillon movies
Gotcha - Paint guns and spies
Up The Academy - Brought to you by the good folks at Mad Magazine

If you are needing chick style go with:
Secret Admirer - hot girls and unrequited love
The Sure Thing - see above

"I can't remember if My Science Project sucked or not."

That was the one where some slacker and his slacker friend broke into a junkyard for abandoned military planes and found a time machine. They dusted it off an passed it as their science project. It went off in the school and the stuff coming from other times (dinosaurs, etc.) started wreaking havoc in the school. I can't remember why the two slackers felt the need to remedy the situation - why not walk off and let someone else do cleanup.

The only other stand-out scene was the one where the indian looking slacker had a neon middle finger that popped up in his car so he could flip off other drivers.

Hamburger: The Motion Picture.

I loved this one. Particularly the scene with the laxative and the mob of fat people.

Classic.

Sucks. Hamburger is only available as a VHS and its going for about $30 used on Amazon.

VisArt Video in Durham might have it. Anyone know of any other small hole-in-the-wall video stores that might carry this?

You gotta have "The Legend of Billie Jean", it was awesome.

I always thought that "Over the Top" with Sylvester Stallone was really cool too.

I think Aspen Extreme should count as a quirky '80s movie--even though it was made in the early '90s.
