Yeah Rivera would have made no sense as their DC.

The driving factor according to the Charger's brass is that they wanted to keep things going as they were.

Turner started their current offense(that Cam Cameron used) in SD a few years ago.
Catrell runs the same 3-4 D that Phillips was using last year.

The less of a transition the players have to make the better.

Turner has been the coach of some crappy teams, now he has all the talent he could ask for, let's see what he does with it.

And apparently Rivera isn't HC material. He's applied for what is it, 9 HC positions in 2 years and no one wanted him? Then his own team didn't want to re-sign him? Something isn't right there.

Personally I'd rather see Norv at OC, Catrell at DC, and Rivera at LB coach and then bring in a more proven HC.
