I will talk shit. It is well known that D-wade flops every chance he gets. He falls after touch fouls. Pat Riley even said it. so, you STFU. Maybe his shoulder injury hurt him and everybody would cry. That wasn't the main point of my post. him crying was just a side-note. He puts his body on the line? He stays on the floor. So I guess that is what you mean. Woody paige actually said the same thing that I did about his low tolerance for pain. Not that woody is the smartest guy in the world....but considering he gets paid to write about sports. So it isn't the craziest comment in the world.

"And I get the part where the outside world is ready for another team, because that's the way our society works now: We embrace something new, digest it, beat it into the ground and move on to something else. One minute, "Borat" is the greatest comedy of all-time; the next minute, it's overrated. One minute, everyone loves "Lost"; the next minute, we're wondering if it jumped the shark. One minute, everyone loves The Killers; the next minute, they're self-important sellouts. It's the Everything Sucks Era. We spend an inordinate amount of time bitching about everyone else. Nobody's good, nobody's worthwhile and everybody needs to go away. That's the prevailing theme."

NBA Finals '06:

Wade: 46.8 FG%(65-139) , 77.3 FT% (75-97) , 31.1 ppg, 6.7 reb, 4.7 ast, 2.4 stl, 0.86 blk, 3.1 turnovers

Shaq: 60.7 FG% (34-56), 29.2 FT% (14-48!!!), 11.7 ppg, 8.7 reb, 2.4 ast, 0.4 stl, 0.71 blk, 2.7 turnovers

Shaq may as well have been Troy Murphy in that series. 11.7 ppg? less blocks than Wade? 0.4 steals??

I'm not even sure Shaq should count that as a full championship. Maybe half of a championship. So he's won 3.5 championships now...

that's very true^ I think Shaq should get a little more credit than his stats show, because he was still commanding double teams when he had the ball on the block. But Wade was unbelievable that series.

Well thats because 3.1 turnovers/game is considered good when you average 31 ppg, 4.7 ast, and go to the free throw line almost FOURTEEN times a game.

2.7 turnovers/gm is not good when you average 11.7 ppg, and 2.4 ast and miss 71% of your free throws.

Come on tree, you watch basketball you know these things.

Revisionist history is amazing, Shaq was a very average player in the Finals and Wade put up one of the best Finals performances of all-time. Ask anyone...

maybe last year

doesnt change that Shaq AVERAGED 30+ ppg in his dozens of previous NBA Finals appearances

Nor does it change that NO single player in the league can match up with Shaq...or that Wade routinely got away with 4 steps on half his drives in that series

Wade is SICK...but its also some Stern: "Oh shit Kobe is in trouble for rape...take his torch away and give it to Wade"

btw..."best finals appearances of all time"...where was Wade in the first 2 games when Dallas won?

You know as well as everyone else that Shaq's impact goes way beyond the stat line. He automatically draws double-teams, and he clogs up the paint on D like no other player in the league. If you're gonna use the "stats only" argument, then I have about 5 million of your own quotes to throw back at you from the Michael Vick is a Golden God thread.

Jordan never had a guy like Shaq to draw the defense away from him, or keep the opposing offense out of the paint.

Well I'm not JUST going by statistics. Shaq didn't do shit in that series. All they did was hack at him with Mbenga, Dampier, Diop. Also, basketball is an assertive game while football is a take what the defense gives you game. There is an enormous difference.

Pull out Hollinger's efficiency rating and you'll notice Shaq is no longer a dominant force

Shaq is a poor defender at this stage in his career. He can't move laterally and therefore is a HORRIBLE help defender. He doesn't block shots, he doesn't get steals, he doesn't rotate, he basically picks his own players by just standing there.

He no longer has the lift he needs to hit his jump hooks. He doesn't draw that many double teams anymore (notice the enormous drop in his assists).

The only move Shaq has left is his bull move in which case the defense just fouls him and watches him shoot 29% from the line.

Also, I just realized that I was drunk last night when I calculated those stats and I think i divided everything by 7. I forgot the series only went 6 games. So the discrepancy in statistics would be even larger.

So Michael Jordan never had Horace Grant(post scorer) and Scottie Pippen (one of the elite all around players of all-time). Hell, even his supporting cast players like Brian Williams, Luc Longley, Ron Harper, Dennis Rodman, John Paxson, Steve Kerr are enormously more talented than Jason Williams, James Posey, Michael Doleac, and the artist formerly known as Gary Payton.

I could go on busting you guys up all day but ive got homework

i'm amazed that Riley is still has coached 2 games. I guess he's still got hope. another loss like today's and he's going down witha career-ending injury. Let's face it this was the last year the Heat had a chance and now it's gone. They are like the all-washed up HOF team + D-Whistle.

Shaq got them the title but it sure would be nicer to build for the future with Wade, Odom and Butler

I think Lamar Odom somehow went from being one of the most underrated players in the league....to one of the most overrated.

" Dwyane Wade Vows To Walk Again Despite Shoulder Injury

MIAMI--When Dwyane Wade was wheeled off the court with a shoulder injury in a game against the Houston Rockets on Wednesday, many fans wondered if he would ever walk again. But the wheelchair-bound Wade isn’t about to give up just yet. In an inspiring interview with the Miami Herald, Wade vowed “to get out of this chair and walk again” despite having a dislocated shoulder.

“I will walk,” Wade said, his arm in a sling and a blanket covering his legs. “I will play basketball again. I don’t care how much rehab it takes and how much adversity I have to overcome. I’ve never been the kind of person to run away from a challenge. Have you ever seen my Converse commercial? I keep falling down, and I keep getting back up. That’s my thing, and broken shoulder or not, I will rise from this wheelchair and walk again.”

Throughout his career, Wade has been known as a never-say-die warrior who sacrifices his body for the good of his team, so the sight of him being wheeled off the court was disturbing to many observers.

“Yea, you know it has to be something bad to see me wheeled off the court like that,” said Wade. “I’m not the kind of guy who’s prone to dramatic displays. Personally, I didn’t even want that wheelchair. The trainers forced me to get into it. They were like ‘D-Wade, don’t try to be a hero. You’re not Superman. You’re only human.’ They were right of course, and I got in that chair and they put a towel over my shoulders cause it was chilly, and I had a good cry, and I got wheeled off.”

Wade has already begun his grueling rehab process. He spends his days with a trainer, swimming laps and working to rebuild the strength in his shoulder. But the hardest part is running on the treadmill, a process which consists of repeatedly falling down and getting up, something the persistent Wade is used to by now.

“Argghh…Urgghhh…Come on! I can do this!” Wade gasped as lifted himself off the floor once again. He then grabbed the handle of the treadmill with his one good hand and resumed running, only to fall soon after, calling to mind the struggles of Jesus as he carried the cross. A camera crew from WSVN Miami stood close by to capture the moment.

“Remember, it’s not how many times you fall down, it’s how many times you get up,” Wade said, as he sat on the floor wiping his forehead with a towel. “This is just a minor setback for me. I’ll be back next season at full force, flying through the air again, taking charges again, grimacing in pain again. But for now, I’m going to try and stand up. Why don’t you shoot this one in slow motion guys, just to capture the moment. Ready? AAARRRGGHHHHHHH! GGGRRRRRGGGHHHHHHHH! Ouch! Finger boo-boo! Cut!”

Wade stopped by practice on Monday to pay a visit to his teammates. After being wheeled into the locker room by his agent, he gave a talk to the team while being hoisted up by Shaquille O’Neal and Antoine Walker. According to Heat players, the speech was “inspirational.”

“It was great to see D-Wade up there talking to us even though he has a bum shoulder,” said forward Udonis Haslem. “He said some really great things, like that we need to step it up in his absence, and that he’ll be cheering us one with his one good arm. He also made a vow to us that he would walk again someday, which I thought was really encouraging. I mean, if we have to spend a whole season with Shaquille O’Neal trying to carry us, I’m going to fall down myself and never get back up, no matter how many cameras are on me.”

As a person who had to overcome health issues to return to the court this year, head coach Pat Riley can certainly relate to what Wade is experiencing. Riley used Wade’s ordeal to illustrate the value of persistence and toughness to his team.

“I told my team today ‘be like him,’” Riley said after Wade’s speech. “Not only is he a brilliant player, he’s a wonderful person, and he’s tough as nails. Nobody falls down and gets up as much as him. He’s like a toddler learning how to walk. It’s just too bad that he’s out for the season, because we were really counting on him to carry us. Come to think of it…my hip is starting to hurt again.” "
