according to NPR (THAT'S RIGHT THE EVIL LIBERAL NPR) said that taxes will not chanage.

apparently they would have to have 10% of their staff in a different country (and make 10% of their revenue there)

Yea, I caught that entire NPR peice just now.

Apparently, the AP and other outlets have reported this "wrong". They aren't moving their headquarters, they are opening another one up in Dubai. They will still maintain their Houston HQ, and they will still be incorporated in the United States with a Delaware address.

They also made a point (a tax attorney chimed in, I think) in the segment that companies can't just move from the US to avoid taxes, rules congress tightened at some point in the past decade or so (I didn't catch exactly when, maybe it was longer ago).

so did you see that quote or did you just see a blank space? cause you claim you have me blocked since i'm not worth responding to, yet you always respond to me?"

I clicked edit on a random post of yours in this thread (edit is easier to block and unblock) to find an example of why I have you blocked. It's no surprise to me that on the very first one, I found an example of your bullshit. And your assertion about "yet you always respond to me" is just plain wrong.

It's typical? This wasn't some kinda Katrina here man. It wasn't like, government officials just woke up one days and said "Fuck, we're in a war, and the enemy is tearing shit up, and we are fucking up infrastructure. Quick, find someone we can give money to so they can fix it."

They were planning this shit for months (some would argue decades ) and could have gotten all this stuff squared away long before the first soldier set foot in their country.

NPR reported this wrong as well, this morning. That's where i got my info that i posted on the front page about being no taxes. THey had a correspondent in Dubai, and he reported about no corporate tax, and said he wasn't sure what the rules were about income taxes in this circumstance. but they did report the CEO was moving there.

The liquid nature of transnational capitalism undermines governmental oversight and authority.

"ive got you on block...

...except when i peek at your threads and decide to respond to your general retardedness"

come on, State409c

thats some weaksauce.

even if you really do have him on block.

i mean, one day i might go and block all the retards in chitchat and sports who post the "N-word" all over their threads, or nasty ass pictures without labeling NSFW...

but to block someone in Soap Box, because you dont agree with them or think they're an idiot or whatever??

i mean damn. what would happen if everyone blocked everyone who they didnt agree with?

be the fucking end of Soap Box thats what. I mean this place is kind of falling apart anyhow. blocking users only nails the coffin. I wont even block Salisburybot.

I don't look at what he posts in TSB, or usually any other section. I know the edit works better than block/unblock because of other users.

It has zero to do with agreeing or disagreeing with him. It isn't just that he is an idiot, it's that he pisses on every thread with bullshit. Just look at this fucking thread with his first post. Every now and then, he makes decent points in usually an obtuse way, but unfortunately, he does way too much stupid shit and trolling of users for me to be interested in the once in a blue moon comment he makes that actually has merit to this thread.

You're a very smart guy joe, can you honestly say he is worth replying seriously to? Maybe you haven't been around long enough, or maybe you find him amusing.

^ he trolls a lot. by taking the discussion off on a tangent and forcing the argument over some petty point.

and yeah, thats annoying.

but it only works if you let it.

and i have to say ive agreed on a few occasions, when he's made sense about something. granted, it was probably in Chit Chat or Sports....

but still, im against almost every form of censorship. and im against the thought of Soap Box devolving into some balkanized thing where everone is having exclusive conversations with their own "group" of unblocked people.

besides, if Twista is posting a bunch of bullshit, who's gonna stop him... if not you, then who?

(although, i can remember one person who i would have blocked: steve9194 he was a truly worthless racist troll.)

Thing is, I remember a time where this was a section where I actually didn't tread too much because most of the posters would rip me to shreds with their knowledge of subject matter and their ability to prove a point. I really do think fuck bags like him, well, mostly him, have been a big cause for the watering down of this section.

hmm. do you really think TSB is declining due to obnoxious people like Twista? because people said (say) the same about salisburybot and others. yet, this same shit was still going on when TSB was at its peak.

i think its more to do with general decline of new members overall, and it's TWW-wide. which is partly due to a lack of site maintenance. the old school peeps have graduated, and many (most?) pf them quit posting so much or at all. those that remain are firmly part this TWW "culture" (whatever it is), and to new folks it can seem really cliquish and difficult to assimilate into.

besides, if you're really worried about Twista scaring off the new folks, then why would you want to give him free run?

yeah, so instead we let them waste tens of billions of dollars overcharging us for paper plates we never got

but really, baldy... why the fuck block twista? seems like a cowardly thing to do in a forum where people express and defend their opinions. Seems like a copout for someone who can't adequately defend his own poorly thought out ideas. Then, just to top it all off, you come on here and effectively brag about blocking the user.

Look, if you want to block someone, then do it, and let that be the end of it. Block them and forget it. THAT'S THE FUCKING POINT OF BLOCKING THEM. Quit showing off your internet penis and revealing the size of your actual penis and decide if you want to block twista or not. then fucking do it, and SHUT UP ABOUT IT.

besides, twista is usually quite adept at explaining his points, and I usually find his arguments quite compelling.

on npr they said that like 10% of the company would have to be in dubai for them them to qualify for tax exempt status. haliburton said that it is not thinking of doing that. of course we should believe them because they are a completely ethical company.

*edit*

oops didn't see someone already said that.
