16:48 in high school. since then i can't break crap. I just run races randomly like 8k's and try to run 7 minute miles. Last race 8k. 35:00 3/14/2007 12:15:34 AM |

yeah, i did it in Excel. It's just a basic chart, really, using 2 Y-axis. I created the shaded areas manually using the Drawing toolbar - you can insert shapes and adjust their background color and transparency. Then just add "call-outs" to point to and label specific data points.
If you want to see some really nice charts, get ahold of Office 2007. It makes beautiful graphs and charts and has really nice templates and color schemes built in. For example, here's one I made in Excel 2007 using a default template scheme to track my training for a marathon I ran last month (a very low mileage plan, which I couldn't even follow because i had chronic shin pain...)
you spend some time in Excel and you can get some really nice looking stuff.3/14/2007 9:11:30 AM |

That's what I'm using now. I'd really just like to be able to split it into two separate charts (maybe a Y split at 10 and 25). I'll have to look into that.

yeah, any values that are not in the same units (distance=mi, time=min, pace=min/mi, etc) should not be plotted on the same y-axis. To separate one of them out, doubleclick on one of the lines to open up the "Format Data Series" box and go to Axis and select Secondary Axis. 3/14/2007 10:28:24 AM |

if you want to know about local races, go to http://www.runnc.com or http://www.ncroadrunners.org. those sites to a good job of listing the local races. it's mostly road running, but there are some trail runs, as well.
Hell, there's a 5K this weekend and one next weekend as well. 3/15/2007 1:04:20 AM |

the run for the oaks is, from what I understand, a very flat 5K course. unfortunately I'll have class on saturdays now. I am not missing the cary 10k though. 3/15/2007 11:19:02 AM |

My PR was 18:02, sophomore year of high school. After that, I had too many knee, heel, and side stitch problems to run competitively. 3/30/2007 10:38:17 PM |

Ran the Cooper River Bridge Run this past weekend (10k). Time was 58 min. which I was please with considering I havn't run since high school and just started training a few months ago. Would recommend to anyone that enjoys running and the new bridge is really interesting as well. 4/2/2007 8:33:37 AM |

^ Yeah the guy who won the race was from Boston 25 years old and ran the 10k in 28 minutes. That is a pace of 4:38 per mile! Pretty impressive to beat the Kenyans. 4/3/2007 8:40:19 AM |
