After three unofficial visits, West Virginia leads for the services of mammoth defensive tackle Chris Palmer. The Philadelphia St. John Neumann product's father said so Saturday: "North Carolina State had offered, so we had to visit. They have great facilities, but their coaches told us they have two scholarships to give. It seems like the last staff had offered a lot..."

Can someone elaborate with this, do we only have 2 scholarships available or left to offer?

Who are some sleeper players in the 08 class?

Who do you think will commit to us next?

How are we looking with Manning, Coples, and the like.

Other ACC recruiting for 2008:

FSU already has 6 commits. One 5*, two 4*, one 3 *, and two players that have yet to be evaluated.

GT has 1 unrated player.

Duke has 4 unrated players.

BC has one 3* player.

CU has 6 commits. One 4*, two 3*, and three unrated players.

UMD has 4 commits. Two 3*, and two unrated players.

UM has 5 commits. Two 5*, one 3*, and two unrated players.

UNC has no commits.

UVA has 3 unrated commits.

VT has 2 commits. One 4*, and one 3* player.

WFU has one unrated player committed.

In national recruiting news, Texas has an astounding 18 commits.

What are these rumors that both Maddox and Manning are going to be a package deal????
That would be awesome if we could land both the top LBs in the state but they also have other offers that would also make sense, Alabama and UNC being two schools I'm worried about. Oh man, let's just pray we land both these guys.

Yeah I saw something that said they may be a package deal. And seeing as how our LB core is depleted pretty badly, if we managed to land both of these guys they could potentially be immediate starters.

But you're right, I definitely want to get at least one of them, I thought we were in good shape with one of them, was it Maddox or Manning? Maybe he can convince the other to come to State too, haha.

^^^^^ Donte Moss is gonna be BIGTIME next year, and we're already in GREAAAAAAT shape, as you can see.

Dwayne Maddox, i believe, is all but a formality for comin here.
Terrell Manning looks reallllly good.
Mike Glennon, i believe, will come here if offered. My opinion is its between him and Charest.

^^^^ i agree, i like the fact that he's sending messages to the top skilled/less intensive players...absolutely love it...if we can put TOB's discipline is Amato's athetes, then we will be an excellent football team...unfortunately, that sentence starts with a big IF

I don't think that's what he's saying. I think he's just being honest and realistic. He knows we're not going to come out with a whole new coaching staff and be ACC champs right away.

Yeah things like that never happen. (Ralph Friedgen and UMD in 01)

Not saying that we will win, just that it is certainly a possibility with our new coach and our talent. The biggest thing that has hurt us in years past was penalties. I can't count how many times we lost mainly b/c of penalties. Oh yeah we stopped them on 3rd down, here we go were gonna get the ball back, oh crap another effin' penalty.

Of course, but stars don't matter a ton in football. I mean it's nice to get a 4* WR like Jay Smith, but it's also important how you develop players.

4* Quinton Coples DE
4* Terrell Manning WLB
4* Robert Blanton CB
4* Leon Mackey DE
4* Masengo Kabongo DT
4* R.J. Mattes OT
4* Mike Diaz OG (only one that we have not offered)

On our roster, or from last year's recruiting class?

If you're talking about our entire roster ... just look at our RB's, and your question is answered.

From last year's class, only WR Jay Smith is **** (according to Scout). I think rivals had a few of our players with 4 stars.

I know this is kind of an old topic but are they really playing Audie Cole at linebacker? The dude is 6'5" and ran for 10 tds last year. Is his arm that bad to where they aren't even giving him a shot to throw the ball?

Who are all the players we're interested in that are camping at State this year? Isn't the two QBs, Charest from Butler HS and Glennon from Virginia going to State's camp? I see their pics on the front page of Pack Pride in regards to the camp talk.

Quote :
""I just committed to NC State," said the 6-foot-2, 220-pounder. "Around 10:30 last night, I just came up with the decision and decided I wanted to surprise the coaches so we drove up here this afternoon."

Maddox, who took over the same position as former U.S. Army All-American Brandon Spikes, was a terror on the field for Crest last season as he tallied 110 tackles on the year.

The Wolfpack was the first to offer Maddox something he made sure to keep in mind when making his decision.

"They were the first to offer me a scholarship, so that hung in my mind at the end about how much they wanted me."

When Maddox made his commitment, he could tell that he made the right choice in selecting his new family.

"They are fired up about it, man. They're wanting a winning program and they think I can help do that.""

^^Charest and Glennon are fighting it out to see who gets the offer from us for QB this year. (They could both get offered, but im guessing that we take the first one tht would commit in that scenario. Word is that Glennon looked the best in camp today)

WR TJ Graham is at camp looking to earn an offer. OL Andrew Wallace, a Top 15 player in NC this year, is in camp as is DT Anthony Garner. Butler High Safety E.J. Whitley is at camp but not participating because of a sore leg or somethin....most take that as a good sign that he showed up even though he isnt working out. There are more sleepers that we will prolly hear more about down the road

w00t! Welcome to the Pack family Dwayne. Soon he'll know what it's like to play in front of the best college football fans in the state. We may often be critical, but I see that as a good thing. We really care about our team doing well, and are hungry for success. What kind of parent would you rather have, the one that stayed on you to do your work and do it right so that you would be well prepared for the future, or the one that doesn't really care how well you do in school?
