go see an orthopaedic, don't waste your time with the family doc or whatever 4/8/2007 6:53:23 PM |

Family practice docs are fine for typical joint complaints.
There are also two types of sports medicine physicians--one's a specialty in family medicine, the other's in ortho. 4/8/2007 6:58:17 PM |

well technically they should be, but i know i've been to 2 different ones and both didn't feel comfortable enough diagnosing it (thumb injury) so i was sent to an orthopaedic. i mean i guess they MIGHT know the answer, but i'd just as soon go where i KNEW i'd get answer 4/8/2007 8:04:39 PM |

Yeah, it's going to depend on the physician in question, whether they feel comfortable enough diagnosing joint/muscle issues.
The benefit to hitting up a family doctor first is that the visit is probably going to be cheaper and easier to schedule, assuming they can take care of the issue. 4/8/2007 8:12:22 PM |

Light paddling was ok. It apparently doesn't directly involve the muscles that were injured. It only really hurt to lift myself out of the boat. It's tender but not painful. I've been taking ~200 mg of ibuprofen 2-3 times a day. 4/8/2007 9:58:12 PM |

Just put some Windex on it and the pain will go away. 4/9/2007 2:40:19 AM |

**PAGING DR TDUB**
I do believe I'm suffering from a work related injury...the kind where you sit at a computer ( ) too long and start having pains. Last week I had, on a scale of 1-10, a 6 pain level just under my L shoulder blade. It hurt to sit up, so once I got home I laid on the couch with a pillow elevating the spot and it seem to relieve the pain somewhat. I had to sleep that way as well.
Again today, I'm having the same problem. But it doesn't go away with a change in position nor stretching. I'm wondering if this is a possible pinched nerve, or the beginnings of carpal tunnel (my L hand is a little tingly)
I have worked this job for 3.5 years (4-8 hour days the first 2.5 yrs, 8 hour days this past year) 5 days a week. I spend the majority (90%) of the day at the computer. 4/17/2007 2:16:52 PM |
