jj looked a little lazy on the defensive end in the all american game

i hope him and Costner don't feed off each others defensive laziness

Degand was already 1. 2. and 3. six months ago and he's going to have another year of work with our incrdible pg staff. Inability to shoot the 3 is going to be the only thing keeping him from being great.

Inability to shoot the 3 is going to be the only thing keeping him State from being great. WIth the exception of Fells on some nights and Costner occasionally, we don't have a shooter.

^^^^ Horner hit 46% of his 3's this past year. He might be the best 3pt shooter on the team.

JJ Hickson will be in our "Starting 6". I imagine those 6 guys will play alot of minutes, and Sid will change the lineups up depending on what kind of look he wants to throw at the other team. I wouldn't get too hung up on who is the 5th and who is the 6th guy.

Big, goofy looking white guys have it tough. Hopefully he'll progress, unlike Evtimov who was severely limited by being slow and unathletic.

costner and furg are around 40% which is damn solid

horner is 45% which is great

grant and fells are both above 30% which is decent

johnson will surely be >35

Javi and degand i have no idea I've heard degand wasn't good at 3s but who knows what they might develop over summer.

keep in mind fells grant and costner took alot of bad shots with no pg in the game and also tired legs late in the game i think they all could be around 40 (look at how atsurs % went down alot this year due to depth ) and think of all the games where we lofted up 3s to try and come back at the very end. those things skewed are %s

ya but check his dental records he is a prolific kyle korver style shooter. If he gets going he could easily be a 15ppg guy. He was a big time shoooter before he broke both wrists.

oh i'm completely on board that he could be an awesome shooter. i think having so little depth last year hurt his chances of getting pt, if you follow me, b/c we couldn't really afford to put in a guy who does nothing but shoot.

maybe i'm off about the pt part, but he could be a money 2 if he gets his stroke going.

Dennis Horner WILL NOT be the best player in the league in 3 years.

Being a decent roll player is different from being GREAT. Great players are David Thompson, Jason Williams, Christian Lattener as gay as he is, etc. just stop before you make yourself look dumber

bttt

JJ Hickson will be nasty, I'm hoping for 2 years, but can't blame the guy for going early if he decides. Assuming we can get a PG worth anything, we should be a top 4 team in the ACC next year.

here's the starting 5, even though it may make some of you cringe:

Hickson - C
McCauley - PF
Costner - F
Grant - PG
Fells - G

Degand will get rotated into PG later in the game

I just have a hard time believing that Lowe is gonna start grant at point. Senior or not, the guy absolutely can NOT play the point. I would rather have costner run the point. Lowe is no idiot. Grant will not be at pg next year.

Hickson - C
McCauley - PF
Costner - SF
Grant - SG
Degand - PG

Fells played PG multiple times this past season...call it point forward or whatever but he brought the ball up court in a number of different situations

hell he played PG all 4 years of high school

Well regular watchers of the Sidney Lowe television show would have heard him talk about Degand

being our PG for next year during Sidney's final show of the year. That was the only guy he

talked about when Tony talked to him about the difficult task of replacing Engin next year. He

said he was a North/South guy (meaning he gets the ball quickly up the floor), and hopefully we

will be able to get out and run some more next year provided the rest of our guys can run with

him. Sid also said that he believes that Degand can get the ball up the court as fast as anyone in

the country. Hearing Sidney say this on his show pretty much affirmed that Degand will be our

starting PG at the beginning of next year. If he stays the starting PG no one knows, b/c who

knows how he'll respond out there in real game situations. Also no one can predict how Johnson

or Gonzalez will come on once Johnson is eligible or once Gonzalez has gotten used to Sid's

system. Provided Degand doesn't have some freak injury during the offseason or during practice,

there's a 99% chance that Degand is our PG to start the season next year.

Does this mean you'll give me 100:1 odds that somebody other than Degand starts the season at PG then?

Because if so, I'd like to make a bet with you.

Yes Degand will start, I mean he's been practicing with the team for a year.

But you have to consider that as soon as Johnson is able to play for us, there will be some competition. Having 2 capable PG's is a great thing. I wonder if Gonzalez will redshirt?

I agree. However, I'm not convinced that we will have 2 capable PG's next year.

You guys put too much stock in Degand's practice time with the team.

Trevor Ferguson practiced with the team for a year before playing and it didn't make him ready to play this year.

True about Ferguson, but I never really heard good things from the staff and publications about him. I only heard that he could shoot the 3, I always thought of him as more of a SG than a PG.

I've already seen 2 publications having us as pre-season top 25 right now (and that's before teams are losing players) and one of them even mentioned Degand being able to lead our team. Plus I've heard Sid say a lot of good things about Degand so I think he'll be able to manage the team at least until Johnson gets there.

With a great supporting cast, we don't even need our PG to be a scorer, just hit an open shot here and there and be able to run the offense.

Costner and Fells are obviously our best shooters. Fells has to get over his confidence issues. Hopefully Horner can show why Herb recruited him -- his shooting ability.

Gavin might not be the best, but he hit some clutch threes for us this year.
