that quote applys to everything in life not just riding a bike dumbass.

actually I don't even ride street anymore because of how dangerous and boring it is so I guess I cant talk, but the point is don't let the fear of dieing stop you from living....weather it be riding a bike, skydiving, or dropping 25k on a stock

I dont understand how anyone could care enough to argue against bike riding.

If you want to ride a bike, ride a bike.

If you want to jump out of airplanes, jump out of airplanes.

etc ...

The last thing someone who already has their heart set on doing something risky needs, is a know it all jabbering against it. Let people live their lives however they please.

I drive a motorcycle.

And I don't have a death wish. I don't ever care to drive over the speed limit, or on a sport bike, or weaving through traffic, or stunting.

I still LOVE it, for pretty much the same reasons I love bicycling and driving my car, combined. There's just nothing like the feeling of traveling down the road with nothing between you and the environment around you.

It's definitely dangerous, but so are most of my hobbies. I work around equipment all day every day that could chop off a limb or kill me. I actually feel MUCH more safe on a motorcycle than I do on my bicycle.

Moto = 35-55mph, with a full face helmet and riding suit on
Bicycle = 15-40mph, with a top helmet and spandex

And I've gotten t-boned on my bicycle by a fucking mercedes and been ejected from mountain bikes on several occasions, so I don't see it as any more of a risk.

just an fyi, this picture:

was not due to a motorcycle accident. i don't care what the text says or who photoshopped it on there. the pic is the repercussion of screwing another man's wife. the guy in the pic was standing in his carport when another guy quietly walked up next to him and called his name. when he turned to see who called his name, the other guy pulled the trigger of a shotgun. fortunately, the guy in the pic wasn't head-on with the shotgun or else he'd be dead. this happened in henderson, nc.

I have respect for bikers in terms of balls. I decided long time back that I will never ride a bike, because for me PERSONALLY, it is not worth a risk. I'd like to ride a bike and it looks like a shit ton of fun, but I am just not willing to accept the risk that comes with it. Some of us are bigger risk takers than others, and thats fine. However, that has nothing to do with being a pussy or not living a life. It's a matter of choice.

^i agree 100%. last time i rode a bike was with P Nis actually. i was scared the entire time which made the ride to be no fun at all. i will never own a motorcycle. i doubt i'll ever ride one again. my life has changed to the point where i am actually looking forward to getting older. yes, rider skill has a lot to do with motorcycle crashes due to stupidity. but there are a lot of crashes where riders are killed just because of stupid drivers and the rider had absolutely zero ways out to avoid the crash (take BigBlueRam for example.). my profession is dangerous enough but i continue to do it because of the love for helping others. i can't leave this Earth because of the selfishness that comes with wanting a thrill. i would like for my daughter to be proud to say that her daddy died in the line of duty than to be sad and say her daddy died because of a stupid motorcycle. yes, you can get killed from walking your doggy but you didn't die because you tripped and fell.

^^^^i don't know. some kind of buckshot. the instructor said the number but i forget.

The only way I would agree is if you were an athlete making millions of dollars based on your good health and ability to play. You can't wait 5-10 years to ride a motorcycle? It'll be just a risky/fun then as it is now.
