creations skate park in kernersville is taking a lot of shows...then you have charlotte and wilmington as always and a new place opened in thomasville that is booking a lot of shows...raleigh just needs a metal/hardcore venue

I needed some dillinger escape plan in my life. all that crap from the Best Music of 2007 thread was turning me into a queerbait.

And based on the three albums you just mentioned, I wouldn't expect you to listen to Satyricon or Deicide.

I want to listen to nothing but hardcore/metal/metalcore all summer. Recommend something other than the albums I've already listened to a bajillion times.

These include:

Anything by Atreyu
Rage Against the Machine
Unearth
or Static X

to be fair, you're like me in that your preferences probably arent serviced by a good number of death or black metal albums that have been listed. that said, i dont really listen to your bands so i cant help you.

to be fair, none of those bands you listed are really close to metal besides Unearth.

Definitely take the time to check out the stuff in this thread. However based on your initial post listing those 4 bands im thinking you may want something more immediately 'accessible' than some of the metal posted in here. Because of that i'll list you some bands that I think you might like:

http://myspace.com/bloodjinn
http://myspace.com/becomingthearchetype
http://myspace.com/arsis

well he's right that a lot of the bands listed in here arent going to cut it for most people. i like metal, but most of that stuff just doesnt work for me or others (unless you're really into THAT type of metal).

that said, there are plenty of types of metal that are more "accessible" so any intimations are unneeded.

[Edited on May 28, 2007 at 2:57 PM. Reason : and suggestiosn like BTBAM arent bad]

^^ what are you trying to imply? I mean if hes listening to static-x and rage right now and considering it metal he might not be immediately finding Nile, Emperor, Immortal, Deicide, etc. to be his taste right now. Considering he posted this on page 2 when there were already tons of bands listed and he listed bands he listened to I thought maybe he hadnt found things he liked by now...I'm sorry for trying to help a fellow music fan out.

caricature? wtf

i dont get RATM or Atreyu, but static x can most certainly be seen as metal.

[Edited on May 28, 2007 at 3:14 PM. Reason : and obviously unearth, but you already said that]

all i remember from Static-X was music in the vein of radio 'hard rock' with yelling and a guy with huge tall black hair back in middle school. Granite I only ever heard one album from one of my friends that was really into them /shrug.

update:

Devildriver's cd was quite excellent and i look forward to the new one.

The Human Abstract cd was also great, particularly anyone who previously said they liked Protest the Hero

I'll add Corrosion Of Conformity - Wiseblood to the list, although it's more hard rock than metal.

as far as metal goes, I'd say all Metallica from "black" album and earlier, particularly Master Of Puppets. Pantera is killer, too.
