I could see ATL moving up. They already have Marvin W. and Sheldon W. at the 4. They wouldn't take Wright at 3. If they packaged the #3 and one of their young players for #1, I could see POR taking that. Of course they could move down as well. 5/22/2007 9:01:20 PM |

Since they got the 11 pick from Indy, does that one go to Phoenix since ATL got a pick in the top 3? 5/22/2007 9:19:24 PM |

If I'm the Bobcats, I package your two #1's and move up to get Brewer.
Felton Brewer Wallace RASHARD FUCKING LEWIS (big assumption, yes) Okafor
That lineup would run people out of the gym. Throw in Carroll and Fabio for 3's, and the bobcats are in the playoffs. 5/22/2007 9:19:32 PM |

Bobcats have most salary cap space in the league if im not mistaken, and I think I have also read that Wallace is partial to Charlotte because they saved him from Sacramento's bench, and gave him a chance to show his potential. 5/22/2007 9:34:04 PM |

His next Page 2 column will be hilarious. All year he talked about how intentional the Celtics' tanking for Oden was. Now they tanked, and they still don't get Oden.
Pre-draft article on why the Celtics are #2 on deserving a #1 pick due to fan hardship.
Quote : | "Comments: You're sitting there thinking, "that bastard rigged the grades so the Celtics would profit from his stupid scoring system." Not true. Name me a team that suffered more trauma since the mid-'80s: Lenny Bias and Reggie Lewis, the demolition of the Boston Garden, the M.L. Carr era, the Duncan lottery, the Pitino era, the Paul Pierce stabbing, the Vin Baker trade, Red Auerbach's death, Doc Rivers' second life. ... After 16 titles in 30 years, it's been a preposterously brutal stretch of bad luck.
Now ...
I want you to zoom through the 14 lottery teams again. With the possible exception of Seattle (for reasons we're about to explain), find me a group of fans who'd be more devastated tonight if they didn't land No. 1 or No. 2. Name me a better home for Oden or Durant from the NBA's standpoint. Name me a young team that makes a leap more quickly than the Celtics with a Pierce-Jefferson-Oden/Durant nucleus. Compared to the other perennial screw-ups and basketball coldbeds on this list, how could you argue against the Celtics' karmic rights for a top-two pick? We're due, aren't we? Please tell me we're due. For the love of God, TELL ME WE'RE DUE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! " |

Some Celtics fans think the draft was rigged.
Quote : | "Usually not into the conspiracy theories, but somehow the three main tankers didnn't make the top 3. Then other tanking teams Minny and Charlotte also didn't make the top 3. But somehow 3 non-tanking teams all somehow each beat huge odds and made the top 3. I'd love to hear the odds that not one tanking team would make the top 3 (Mem, Bos, Mil, MIn, Cha). I've NEVER thought these things had any remote chance of being fixed, but something doesn't smell right here. Also (and I know people will disagree with me here) I think that's Simmons consistent tanking articles on ESPN made this whole tanking thing a phenomenon and may have forced Stern to step in. " |
Quote : | "Done. See ya, guys, I am done with this league. The fact that there was potential for a horrible injustice was a huge issue for me (see my earlier posts). The fact that it has happened seals the deal. The NBA has lost a fan for life. I just can't take this sort of heartbreak! The Trailblazers? The Supersonics? Sox, Patriots, and college basketball from now on. Enough." |
What can you say? Tank the season and don't even try to hide it, and now you realize karma's a b****.5/22/2007 10:31:42 PM |

So the Sonics have the rights (essentially) to one of the most hyped players in recent times (Durant/Oden)
Don't they also have the ability to now move to a new city?
Seems like a great way to bring fans in to the new franchise city.

Actually, considering that
- Washington has no property tax - Oregon has no sales tax
It'd be pretty sweet, I'd live in like Vancouver, WA and just get on I-5 and drive across the state border to Portland when I had to be there. Save a lot of $$$$ that way 5/23/2007 2:20:19 AM |

Except Aldridge is more of a 5 and Randolph is definately a 4, why not draft Durant as a 3 and have a cohesive frontcourt?

Because they need an elite defender to makeup for Z.Randolph's defensive deficiencies.
Having Oden and Aldridge paired together certainly isn't a bad thing since they are both so young.
Eventually they can move one of them if they need to.
Martrell Webster isn't actually any good, you should have listed Sergio Rodriguez as the other PG, he's got a lot of potential.
I wonder if this changes Seattle's thinking about re-signing Rashard Lewis? They have a plethora of young big men with potential (Swift/Petro/Collison), two PG's, Ray Allen, Durant, and Rashard if they keep him. That team could be a potential contender as early as next season.
Sucks Phoenix didnt get to add a top 5 pick, i woulda loved to see them add another piece to build a super team. 5/23/2007 9:58:32 AM |
