That's right. You are. You immediately bought into LoneSnark's source and even posted a cute little graph to support it. And then you tried to use HTML to keep people from posting how stupid you are. One mention of a suspension, and you remove the HTML (like a pussy) and try to make it look like it was my fault. I posted the HTML you posted to show what you had done and forgot that I was premium and that the HTML would actually work. And then I had to wait for you to remove your HTML before I could remove mine.

I'm tired of your trolling. I'm asking for your suspension. Hope others will do the same.

And, drunknloaded, you're right anyway. I should have said "Who thought that Europeans...?" not "You thought that Europeans...?"

Anyway, back to the topic...

LoneSnark is correct that higher gas prices have not necessarily decreased driving. I've read where Europeans have simply cut back on spending for other things in order to buy gas and continue driving like they always have. But I don't see why he's confused about this. He should know that increasing gas prices will eventually descrease driving...the question is how high do they have to go?

I personally don't give a shit about Europe/Europeans and don't look to them for guidance on much of anything--we're very different from them, and if we're smart and honest with ourselves, we can figure things out on our own and handle them better. Sure, we can learn some valuable things from history and from the rest of the world, but people who start every sentence, "Well, you know, in Europe, they..." are fucking stupid.

I do believe we need to find ways to decrease driving here in the US. I don't know shit about the ozone. I do know what smog is though, and I'd like to see less of it. To achieve this, we need to do a number of things, things like encourage responsible city planning/development, encourage folks to live closer to their work, responsibly consider mass transit, encourage research/development of alternative fuels and whatnot... And none of that depends on how many cars some fucking Europeans own.

Excellent, faulty statistics from the International Harold Tribune, that was my first theory. The statistics were shocking to me and I wanted to know whether they were accurate or not. Obviously linking the information here was the right move: within a few days it was demonstrated what was wrong with the statistics (didn't count trucks).

Thank you, all is well with the world again. It simply made no sense to me why car ownership would be higher when the price of gasoline was almost double and purchasing power was so much lower.
