" I think, conceptually, the concept of the song was generations of "classics", therefore, Kanye representes the "new" generation of classics, what I would deem the "soul era" of breaks and beats"

That being said, Kanye's contribution to hip-hop does not suggest he is worthy of being on the same track as 3 of the top 5 mc's of all time and the best producer of all time. The "soul era" as you put it is yet to produce a legend anywhere near the scale of all the other artists. And on top of all that, he has the weakest verse, and is the only non NY artist. It just doesn't make sense to include him with artists of that magnitude.

Apparently Kanye has added some more tracks to the album. The track list will be the songs metnioned in the track listing above plus "Barry Bonds" ft. lil wayne (which is a hot track after a few listens), and "Flashing Lights". "Barry Bonds" was leaked earlier this week.

"Barry Bonds" is a hot track, but I need something a little better than a shitty radio rip. I can't wait to get a CD quality version.

^i wouldnt call it homoerotic, it's just strange for someone to admit that they idolize someone in rap. at least someone that's alive.

Big Brother and Flashing Lights are fucking great.

there's not a single song on this album that I dont like. and it's been a WHILE since I've said that

"Stronger" is Kanye West rapping over and ruining a perfectly good song by Daft Punk

I'm on my second spin of the album...and I gotta say, I'm disappointed. I'm hoping it'll grow on me.

You think so? I think it's too much of a subtle diss to be considered homoerotic.

^ The only retail versions of Curtis I've seen so far are clean...I'll check for the dirty version tomorrow.

Quote :

I don't think it's a diss song in the vein of "Ether," "Second Round KO" or whatever, but there's definitely some airing of dirty laundry in between Ye lauding Jay-Z.

Also, "Everything I Am" is amazing...it and "Flashing Lights" are the standouts for me right now.

kanye explicitly stated that it's not a diss....he played it for jay-z before it was ever even played anywhere on public.

jay-z is quoted by kanye as saying it was "deep"

fantasy drafting and giving it a full listen

like "the glory" and "everything i am"

disappointed with the mos collabo and the waste of a beat for the "big brother" content

exactly. daft punk is awesome...and kanye doesn't add anything to that song. seems pretty cheap to me. samples are fine, but there isn't much originality in that song.

I don't know WHAT is it, but I can't stand Kanye like I used to

but he knows how to master a fucking album, it's cohesive as shit and thats real rare nowadays, but I stick to my guns saying he shoulda stayed behind the boards, cause I rarely listen to the bullshit he's spittin anyways. Yea rap is all about bustin guns and sellin drugs nowadays, but at least you can tell a story with that, you can't say much about how you went to the Louis Vuitton store and copped a new bag

at any rate, just based on feel and vibe of the album, i'd say 3.5/4 outta 5

on a 15 song album theres no room for STINKERS like barry bonds and drunk & hot girls

not to mention putting a 4 year old song on your album like no one would fucking notice

"argh argh ah la argh, that's how the fuck you sound... you drunk and hot girl"... I lol'ed so hard after that.

After a listen through, I think it's a good, but not great. I probably won't buy it now, but to say that this sucks is farfetched.

Im waiting till sept 11th the listen to the album, but all ive heard is good reviews, and i eat up anything kanye throws out so the album will be awesome. I hear really good things about Champion, Big Brother, and Flashing Lights. And, i can still easily bump to CTMN and Stronger. I heard kanye says that Drunk and Hot Girls takes a few listens to really start to like it but i guess its all opinion I cant wait to purchase the album (first album purchase since Late Registration)

Uh... if anything lacks originality it's the Daft Punk version. It's got like 10 words.

Psst, they also aren't really original. They're really good at slightly modifying songs, but to criticize Kanye for being unoriginal when Daft Punk is involved is pretty ridiculous.

I also think it's interesting he mentions and quotes 50 in "Good Life"
