We have the Fresh Step Scoop Free self cleaning litter box for our cats and we think it is pretty awesome. I don't know about the Cat Genie, but I think that in general self cleaning litter boxes are more than worth the money that you pay for them. I think that this self washing idea is pretty neat. 7/25/2007 11:17:21 PM |

can you train older cats to use the toilet? 7/26/2007 7:45:07 AM |

^likely, with patience....
My cat is the only one I've ever had, and he learned as a kitten...
Also, I didn't use a store-bought toilet ring thing, they only have 4-5 rings, which I think is too few.
I just used an old plastic popcorn bowl with a lip that fit the toilet, cutting the hole with a hack saw a 1/2inch larger every week or so.
I took 6 months from no hole in the bowl, to no bowl in the toilet..... ....a small price to pay for never having to mess with a litter box ever again. 7/26/2007 10:47:38 AM |

^aha
I thought about it,
but he likes to watch the toilet flush,
just like that youtube cat, (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AF2a0onhD2o)
and I didn't want him to start over-flushing...
You can buy a gadget that flushes on a 24 hour timer; just set it to flush in the middle of the night.
Motion-sensor flushers are more expensive, and they might startle your cat into not wanting to go near the toilet....
I use (and clean,) the toilet regularly anyway, so my routine isn't really changed at all. 7/26/2007 11:25:59 AM |
