I think Liverpool wanted to make a statement this transfer period to show that it's commitment to winning is still firmly in place as far as the financial aspect goes
Resigning Gerrard, Carra, and Reina were necessary steps
and now the signing of the two Hungarian kids, Torres, et al is the club showing that it doesn't want to remain stagnant, 21 points behind ManU at the end of next year 7/5/2007 2:59:14 PM |

1. Nobody ever suspected Veron was going to be a flop until he fell flat on his face. Tevez has proven himself in the EPL by single-handedly saving West Ham from relegation.
2. Tevez playing in Carrick's place? .....what? Do you even understand how the game works?
3. I would hate to see Smudge go, but I think at some point he may. Honest truth is he's a fringe player at ManU, but he's really not any higher up the ladder if he goes somewhere else. Unfortunately the only way he'll see that is if he does end up somewhere else and is still riding the bench.
4. Liverpool overpaid for Torres. 15 goals a season in La Liga? He's hit a plateau. They would've been better off getting a younger player from the Eredivisie like KJH, Alfonso Alves, or Jefferson Farfan.
5. Bolo Zenden is OLD. 7/5/2007 11:04:26 PM |

wow, that was some sneak shit
looks like Tevez will be playing at Old Trafford from now on, once they wrap this whole Joorbachian (sp?) third party bullshit up
I had a feeling he would go for United, too, after the way he sought out Rooney after the final game of the season and they looked like they were getting chummy. Hopefully this will keep Gaby H. around.

Liverpool announces they will play in an airport in a couple of years:
what a horrible design for a stadium... inside looks okay with the steep endzone, but damn

i like it - i mean, you're not ever going to build another stadium like Anfield in 2008-->
The steep Kop on the end will certainly be a sight to behold, and is going to produce a mind-numbing wall of noise 7/25/2007 9:45:20 AM |

Smith to Newcastle, big mistake. If he thinks he's going to get any PT sitting behind Owen, Martins, Luque, Ameobi, and Viduka.
Even if they plug him into the midfield he'll sit behind Emre, Barton, and Dyer. 8/6/2007 9:14:10 PM |

Arsenal's comeback win over Fulham this morning was sick
two goals in the last 7 minutes
best game I've seen in a while (well the last 10-15 minutes of the game at least)
p.s. here's the free kick http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P_KQlJuNQ30

^of course bocanegra had to be the one to concede the penalty for fulham so arsenal could tie it up
and way to go mr gerrard, that's why you are the man, gg Liverpool
a few narrow escapes on weekend 1 here
and united had better win this match by at least 2-0 the way they've dominated (that said, i hope reading still pulls one out of its hind parts)

I am a West Ham fan so I taped their game and watched it. I was actually pretty impressed with Spector's play. He had a few nice long balls and was relatively tight at the back. Upson was horrible and himself led to a few chances and he should have done better on the first goal.
Good to see Ashton back playing in a real game again finally.. hopefully he can pick up some of Harewood's goals... still don't know how Zamora led the team last year in goals..

I would just like to go on record as saying that my Reds will not be in the title chase this year unless:
1) Xabi Alonso removes his head from his ass 2) Jermaine Pennant decides to return to his CL Final form 3) Rafa finds a real left back
We will be better and will hopefully challenge for 2nd, but after seeing Liverpool's performance against a mid-level side like Villa, I'm less than convinced. 8/12/2007 7:27:06 PM |
