"why would they release this to the public? doesn't make sense."

Maybe the technology isn't mature enough to actually use yet, or the whole thing was scrapped, but the US propaganda machine decided that at least we can publicize it to create some paranoia out there in terrorist land. Or maybe they know we wouldn't publicize something like that unless it wasn't viable so they know it was an intentional red herring, and thus they WON'T be suspicious when we send in our cyborg moths.

But maybe they would expect us to do that, too. But maybe we would expect that they would expect us to do that as well..... just think of the comedy that could ensue.

ABDUL: Yo, Mustafa, is that a moth?

MUSTAFA: Oh shit, US SPIES!

ABDUL: (opening fire with AK-47 at said moth) ALLAHU AKBAR!!!!!!

MOTH: (flies around in random moth flight pattern)

MUSTAFA: HEY MOTHER FUCKER WATCH WHERE YOU'RE SHOO.....AGH FUCK YOU SHOT ME FAGGOT

ABDUL: FUCK I MISSED (throws grenade at moth)

(Moth is killed by grenade, as well as Mustafa and several other militants)

ABDUL: My bad yo, but at least I killed the infidel moth!

(Osama walks over and examines the dead moth)

OSAMA: There is no chip in this moth, we were fooled again! DAMN YOU AMERICAN INFIDELS!!

ON a similar note, DARPA is trying to invent force fields.

"DARPA, the crazy research arm of the Pentagon, is looking to make science fiction a reality. Their current goal? To create shoot-through, invisible, healable body armor.

Yeah, we're talking armor that soldiers can see and fire through on one side, but is invisible and impenetrable on the other. "Friendly forces will be able to see through it and shoot through it, but hostile forces will not. [It'll also have] the ability to 'self-heal' if necessary. The materials must be lightweight, respond instantly, and be easy to deploy and retract in confined spaces." They'll accomplish this using metamaterials, crazy compounds that I can't even begin to wrap my head around. This doesn't seem to be all that realistic at the moment, but hey, the Internet was just an insane DARPA project at one point too. –Adam Frucci"

Spy Flies All the Buzz at Washington, N.Y. Political Events

Quote :
"Witnesses are buzzing about recent sightings of robotic-looking dragonflies seen at Washington and New York political events. And U.S. government and private agencies have admitted to striving for the spy technology, The Washington Post reports, though no one has confessed to deploying the bugged bugs."
