i was referring to the use of a fake death storyline in the first place. i guess i'm not able to put it into words, but am i the only one that thinks it's pitiful to need to use fake deaths as storylines in the first place? and then to have a real tragedy occur, it just shines more of a negative light on the use of the fake death storyline.

is that any more clear? i don't think it's bullshit that they scrapped the mcmahon death story to pay respects to benoit. i think it's bullshit that the mcmahon storyline ever happened to begin with, and the real tragedy is a great example of why.

It's not reality, but it's not a soap opera either. When you see "Hulk Hogan", you don't think of him as Terry Bollea, you think of him as Hulk Hogan. Soap opera and sitcom and drama stars go by their real names outside of a show. Yeah, it's a character, but a lot of real life is in the character. Someone pointed this out, when Hogan got nailed for using steroids in the early 90s, the people did not distinguish between Bollea or Hogan using steroids, it was one and the same to them (true even despite there was more kayfabe back then).
