from the Boston Herald

Quote :
"But in Raleigh, N.C., O’Brien is in a situation unlike any other he has encountered. In his previous three stops - as an assistant coach at Navy and Virginia and as the head coach at Boston College - he had the opportunity to work with some of the best student-athletes in the country This is his first foray into coaching at a state school..."

BC reports minor infraction

The first minor snag of the season hit Friday during the afternoon session when Jagodzinski invited to practice his old friend and mentor, Alex Gibbs, who is regarded as the prime innovator of the zone blocking scheme Jagodzinski brought to BC.

Having Gibbs watch practice from the sideline and offer opinions was one thing. But Gibbs was doing more than that. Wearing BC garb, Gibbs was actively coaching and showing techniques.

Oops. Not allowed, according to an NCAA rule that states consultants can talk to the coaching staff, but not actively coach players unless they are officially added to the staff. Jagodzinski was apparently unaware of this regulation and when school officials saw Gibbs coaching, they realized it was a secondary violation and reported it to the Atlantic Coast Conference.

‘‘I knew Alex was going to be here at some point,’’ said athletic director Gene DeFilippo, ‘‘but when this happened, we called the ACC offices and self-reported it. We handled it. Ignorance of the rule is no excuse, though.’’

i think BC is trying to make us a 'rival'. they are like the little kid in the playground that no one wants to play with, the last kid in the playground to get picked to play...

^haha thats actually a fairly accurate parallel I think...its like them and their 2 brothers (Miami and VT) had to move away to a new city...their brothers seemed to be popular and make friends and have success...they however were ignored...they just want a playmate but all their friends are in their old city (Big Least conf.)...they just want a playmate!

it will be at least a little heated as long as TOFB is here, but the word rivalry is not applicable, just like it's not applicable to most of the games that it is used to describe. here's to ruining tradition, mass media.

GAME DAY PREDICTION:BC vs. NC STATE

"NC State. Win. No doubt. Plus if we beat Wake in the opener we’ll probably move into the Top 25 and you know how TOB does against ranked teams."

The dude predicted they would go 9-3 and end up in the Music City Bowl. And they wonder why Tom O'Brien left that shit hole.
