There was a lot of buzz about the C300 & C350 when I bought mine, but it feels tiny in comparison.
I'm pretty sure it makes me 'old' but I love my car being a bit bigger & feel a lot safer in it.

Then again, after driving a Mustang for 4 years - feeling safe could have happened with one of about 200 models other than what I had. Go figure, I actually don't mind driving in rain/inclimate weather anymore.

I didn't look at the Merc's because when I drove through the lot the only one I was half way intrested in was 108K......

Needlees to say, I didn't even bother talking to anyone or even having a test drive...

Yes, that is all I meant, I was able to get an awesome car with a bunch of features that I liked without spending an extra 15 or 20K. My thinking was that I could travel and invest alot of money with the savings from a rational purchase.

But with that said, I could care less what the median average income for working adults is.

I could care less what "Mr. & Mrs. Average" are doing with their lives.

I didn't mean to sound arrogant with my initial post either, as I paid about 37k for my car which is, at least what I know, not Big Pimp'in rich!

Fuck, I thought I was being THRIFTY!!!!

Anyway, it is a great car! Not as great as some, BUT far GREATER then most!

268hp mated to a 7spd auto vs 306hp mated to a 5spd auto

Similar 0-60 and 1/4 mile times.

Same reason the IS350 and G35 both have the same hp, but the IS350 is faster 9 times out of ten because of its quick shifting 6spd auto. Infiniti needs to step up to a 6spd auto or better yet a RWD CVT that can handle some power

I honestly thought the price was fair (I actually paid less then 37, but rounded up for simplicity's sake).

The bottom line is that "I liked it, It seemed worth it to me, It is my money, research show's it is reliable and again..... I dig it, and have money left over for quick trips!"


It was a no brainer for me, but to each their own...

MSRP on that model with Nav and tech is $38,365, with Tax, Title, Doc fee $37,000 is not a bad deal, assuming that was the sticker AND that the $37,000 was the out the door price.

TT&F would be about $1,600, meaning you got it for about $35,400, right about invoice (not including holdback and any incentives)

So if the sticker was $38,365.00, you got a good deal, unless Infiniti has a huge incentive (which they wouldn't have told you about) on the 07's.

They certainly didn't have any steak dinner's, but they have a pretty cool coffee machine.

sd2nc: Your math is pretty good, because I ended up with what I was prepared to do, everything worked out well. I actually paid a little bit less.

Infiniti was offering crazy financing on everything but the G35. The SUV's are gas guzzlers, the M35 was great but pricing wise just brought you back to BMW and in the 5 series range, just go with BMW if you want a car at that level. Everyone knew the G37 was coming out soon, so they had 0.9 financing on the G35 coupe, it may even be less no as they have a bunch of them.

Not a bad deal for what you got, but damn I'd hate to buy a brand new car, the depreciation is just too much for me. But, if you've got the money, who cares I guess..

Shit you must have not known what the hell you wanted to have test drove everything from a Camry to a Cayman. I mean I bought the Camry myself because I needed a car quick and it was right before the 07 came out so I got it on the cheap, but if I was willing to put down the cash for a 525 or a Cayman I would not have even pulled in the Toyota lot

That is a nice car you have though, good choice.

I pulled into everyone's lot with the preconceived notion that I was either going to buy either a 5 series BMW, Ford 150 Super Crew cab, Porche Cayman, Honda CRV or a 350Z.


I ended up with an Infiniti that wasn't even on my radar........until I looked at them and was finally curious enough to test drive them.

Game Over.

Yea, great car. My girlfriend just got a new IS250 and I'm not really that impressed. I liked her old IS300 more to be honest. Her IS was pretty much the same as my brother's G35s. I'd rather have the Infiniti.

Yeah it is about the most screwed up bunch of vehicles ever, but that was my main problem. I couldn't match my day to day needs with what I envisioned were my day to day needs.

On one hand I thought I needed a truck because I fish, hunt and a couple of times a year go to nurseries to buy plants, mulch and bulky stuff. So the truck made the most sense. The CRV side of me said, "What a minute" you can do all of that stuff with me (within reason) and I get incredible gas milage! The rational side of me said, "Shit, I can rent a truck from Lowe's twice a year and still save money!"

The Porche, well shit, my thought process started with "I can't afford a 911 and I wouldn't be caught dead in a Boxster, but Fuck that Cayman is sweet! And I decide that I would cut my fun travel budget in half.... until the wife was like, "uh, that is OUR fun budget."

So on to the 5 series, wife immediately fell in love with it, but I didn't and for the money I liked alot of other cars for less.

Yes, it was an eclectic mix, but I am happy.

My next purchase is going to be an old two wheel drive pickup.

^ my uncle bought an old Datsun diesel pickup for doing dirty work like you mentioned many years ago for $500. he used it for several years and then sold it for $500. it had A/C (you had to turn it off going up steep hills) and got ~40 mpg. it was a worthwhile investment.
