well stone was trying to "ninja jump" over guys in the App game last year... maybe TE is his big chance. 7/26/2007 12:24:47 AM |

My understanding is that Rashad Philips has continued the rehab process on his leg through the spring and summer, and his status for this season is uncertain. I mean he went through extensive surgery to get a rod in his leg and skin grafting after a car wreck only last October (bad compound fracture). He needs to focus on getting full function in his leg and healing properly before trying anything else.
I'm rooting for the guy, but I imagine it will take a while once he is medically cleared to get his weight and leg strength back up to be much of blocker. I'm expecting Kushner to fill that role initially. If Rashad isn't ready, Frank Fields and/or George Bryan could see action. I doubt we redshirt Bryan now, because he has great size to be a good blocker for us if he has good technique. This is an opportunity for both Bryan and Stone to step up, and hopefully Kushner will continue to be a solid contributer.

I think Stone will be much better at TE then most think. He definitely never shied away from throwng a shoulder into the defense when he tucked an ran. Hell, I believe he gave a good little knock to an FSU LB. From what was said of spring practices he seems to be much improved as a receiver too. He has the body for it as long as he continuously bulks up. 7/26/2007 10:19:12 AM |

http://www.newsobserver.com/753/story/650138.html Looks like we'll probably start the season without Jeraill McCuller as well. 7/26/2007 3:44:31 PM |
