Interesting article about the GOP debate in Iowa. Is it me or does it seem as if Dems spend more of their time attacking issues during the debates while Reps spend more time attacking Dems and each other.

To addess the OP:

Yes. Because neither you or I have any idea WHAT those 300 investigations are being called for. They could VERY well be all justified, and if I want our government to do anything right, its oversight. I'd MUCH rather spend my tax money making sure the shit going on in DC is on the up and up, than anything else.

Clean up the town, then move on to the rest of it.

Quote :
"And one would think with this many investigations that if illegality were rampant in the Bush administration--as many of you claim--more people would be in jail. Why can't the Democrats in Congress find all of this alleged corruption? I mean, they sure as hell are looking very hard for it. Are the Democrats just incompetent or are they crooked? Or is the supposed illegality in the Bush administration that many of you so desperately hoped for just not there?"

No they wouldn't. Executive privilege gives immunity to anyone in direct counsel of the president. I'm not saying other presidents haven't done this. But Bush has done it not only to protect his immediate counsel, but to protect scores of people who would fall in a waterfall effect if someone like Rove were forced to talk.

It's there all over the place. The man and administration has been breaking US and International law since 9/11. I blame the democrats just as much for going along with the hysteria. Make no mistake, I'm non-partisan on this issue, the whole fucking executive branch has failed us for the past 6 years.

"And the Democrats are always with the excuses: We can't pull out of Iraq because the mean old Republicans won't let us--even though we control Congress! We can't impeach Gonzales because the mean old Republicans won't let us--even though we control Congress! We can't do this, that, and the other thing because the mean old Republicans won't let us--even though we control Congress!

Shit, I had no idea that Bush was omnipotent. Did you ever consider that maybe a lot of the ideas your team has just suck?
"

Wow this is a new level of retarded. You do understand that Bush is the COMMANDER IN CHIEF, right? The ONLY thing Congress can do to end the war is to eliminate funding. They CANNOT force a pullout/withdrawal/retreat. Cutting funding is an absolute last resort because it will mean many MORE lives will be lost and any pullout that does happen as a result will not be as safe, quick or efficient as with a funded, presidentially backed pullout.

The only way we are going to get out of Iraq safely is when a new president takes the oath of office.

You don't have an idea how our government works, do you? Having a 51% majority doesn't mean squat because it takes 2/3 of Congress to overturn a veto. Any legislation that the Democrats try to pass in Congress is going to get vetoed by the President, and .... wow... why do I even need to explain this? Did you take Social Studies in middle school?

Yeah, nice response. Avoiding admitting that you're completely wrong seems to work well, doesn't it?

really? rather than you know, doing what they are supposed to do? like pass good laws? figure out the budget? generally not waste time and taxpayer money?

because honestly if that's what you wanted then I want a refund check from you.

and personally I don't think congress should have anything to do with the military in terms of tactics or maneuvers.... which is exactly what they did in 'nam

congress doesnt "pass good laws". They should be doing oversight on existing laws and making changes where necessary.

It's pretty figured out. Congress can't fix the problems they create though. It's going to take congressional reform and one hell of a dedicated president for that.

That's like the #1 purpose of government isnt it?
