You guys are idiots. None of you before the season were saying costner and ben were overhyped or not even good players. None of you were saying horner wouldn't contribute at all. None of you were saying Thomas Fells and Javi would get hurt. So fuck all of you this couldn't have been predicted. Anybody who called any of those things can eat the win but all of you others are just trolling. 3/19/2008 11:18:14 AM |

Then theres johnson. I remmeber the general consensus around here was that he would be the starter. nobody was saying he would be the worst guy to ever see minutes. I remember arguing with people who thought he didn't suck ass after not playing his first 2 games when we really needed him. 3/19/2008 11:20:04 AM |

He missed most, if not all of, pre-season practice because of a thumb injury I think.
I don't remember the exact injury, but he missed a significant portion of (if not all of) pre-season.3/19/2008 1:11:39 PM |

the only thing i was referring to is the constant devaluing of teams like unc and duke, who were/are clearly better...and no, i didn't think uva was going have a better season, although they were much better than we were last year...but hey, they were better this season, so would i really be that dumb? 3/19/2008 3:14:47 PM |
statered All American 2298 Posts user info edit post |
Without knowing all you know now that it's the end of the season, yeah, you would have been dumb had you said uva would be better than us this year.
And I'm still not sold on Duke. Obviously they're better than us (which doesn't say much), but they're way overrated. They won't make it past the Sweet Sixteen, if they even make it that far. 3/19/2008 3:18:12 PM |

so what does that make those people???
who cares, my point had nothing to do with state...more with the upper echelon teams that you people make out to be overrated flukes 3/19/2008 3:27:21 PM |
statered All American 2298 Posts user info edit post |
I'm assuming "those people" refers to the ones who thought State would be better than uva? In which case, that would make them wrong. But in no way does them being wrong make them dumb, just like being right doesn't make a person not dumb.
The only team I said was overrated and still say is overrated is Duke. We almost beat them for crying out loud. They benefit from acc officiating and because they won't have that in the NCAA tourney, they'll be exposed, just like they are nearly every year. 3/19/2008 3:34:59 PM |

Wasn't UVa picked to finish 5th to our 3rd? It's not like they were picked last to our 3rd...
V actually... since 2001 they have been the most underachieving time compared to their seeding. There was a long article on it in the Wall Street Journal after last years tournament.

exactly, they were a 4 seed last year, returning an all acc performer, they got love in the preseason polls as did we
^ but with that 2004 final four when they choked away the NC against your beloved huskies thrown in the mix, i tend to only say they were exposed in the last couple of years...you of all people should know (because i have heard you say it) how hard it is to advance far in the tournament year in, year out...much less win a national championship

^ They returned Singletary and lost J.R. Reynolds, Cain, and a couple of other experienced players. Even with "an all-acc performer" coming back, unless he's named David Thompson, one player does not a good acc team make (and even Thompson had help). Just ask Tyrece Rice.
And lol at you guys saying they're "better" than us. They beat us in head to head competition in the middle of our nine-game losing streak. They finished with the same record as us and were only ranked 11 to our 12 because they beat us. So yes, technically they were better. But campus crusade's women's team could have beaten our team this year, so that's not saying a whole lot.
As for Duke... They've won it all once since the Hurley and Laettner days. And in the one they won recently (can't remember the year) the refs helped them beat Maryland in the Final Four game. Without help from their friends (the refs) they wouldn't have even made it to the title game. With all of the talent they've had they should have at least another title in there somewhere. 3/19/2008 3:51:24 PM |
