so I'm watching ESPN First Take and they are talking about Bush receiving around $280k while at USC through gifts and that there could be a lawsuit against him. Someone clear this up for me. How can their be penalties against Bush even though he is out of the NCAA. It seems like only USC should be punished. 10/11/2007 12:41:59 PM |

You don't remember when Chris Webber got penalized for his illegal benefits at Michigan while he was in the NBA? From what I recall, he was put on probation and had to pay a large fine. 10/11/2007 12:58:42 PM |

doesnt that seem fucked up too though? bush is worth millions and is in the NFL...what about the upcoming freshmen and sophomore at USC who might not be able to play in a bowl game because of something a former player did?10/11/2007 1:01:16 PM |

The lawsuit appears to be from the people who illegally gave him the money.
As for Bush, they can take away his Heisman if they determine he was ineligible for any of that season. As for USC, they can and should be punished for using an illegal player with probation, and forfeiting all of their games/championships, although they probably won't b/c they are USC.

The NCAA does not attempt to remedy the poor play of illegal players. If USC could have won if not for Bush's boneheaded play, they would have to forfeit that game as well.
Haven't heard anything lately on Dwayne Jarrett living in a luxury beach house for low rent either. 10/11/2007 3:11:07 PM |

U$C is above the law and will not get punished. It's bullshit, but the NCAA looks the other way for U$C while Oklahoma has something similar (and less severe IMO) occur with some of their players and they lose scholarships.
Fuck U$C and Reggie Bush. 10/11/2007 3:36:00 PM |

Bush fumbled away another game. That fumble might have been even more devastating than his fumble that changed the momentum in the National Championship game 2 years ago at USC. Instead of being 6-6 and 1 game back on the Buccaneers, now they are 5-7 3 games back and probably gonna miss the playoffs.
He's got 8 fumbles on the year now.
On the bright side, he has upped his YPC average from 3.6 (last year) to 3.7 so far this year.
What is his longest career run now? 24 yards? He's a game-breaker, alright, but not in the way that people expected. 12/2/2007 10:07:22 PM |

His longest run is 22 yards. He had a 25-yarder in the playoffs vs. Philly last year but that doesn't officially count.
You can't blame Bush for being asked to pitch the ball with his left hand to a wide receiver who dips his hands in liquid teflon before games (Devery Henderson who still leads the NFL in dropped passes). Sean Payton is a goddamned idiot for that playcall and as a Saints fan, I'm not afraid to let loose about it. We should have run dives the rest of the way, and either we get the first downs we needed to win or we punt it and gave Tampa way more field to have to cross.
Reggie had 13 runs for 64 yards today, an average of nearly 5 yards. The pass plays we called to him were absolute dogshit, so he wasn't much of a factor there, but pinning this loss on Bush is specious at best.
