Are you learning anything from the books or movies? If not, they fall into the same entertainment category as video games. You are not accomplishing anything and therefore you are wasting time.

I fail to see how it is a waste of time if you are enjoying it. People need entertainment in their lives.

my momma has and always will kick my ass at NR2003. But, in all honesty, she did race in the busch series so her experience gives her the upper hand.

well not true. Because if we continue to play the latest and greatest video games all through our life, kids or no kids. We'll still be good at the game.

My dad and I used to play BaseWars for NES and pretty much any "beat 'em up" type game for SNES and Sega Genesis.

Tetris is the only one I remember. I'm sure we played a couple other NES games, but nothing after that.

My mom sent my dad a Gameboy when he was in Desert Storm but he never played it once he got back home.

I've found that as I've gotten older that there simply isn't enough time to play games like I used to... especially when you start having children.

I've only got enough time to play a select few nowadays. I haven't even bought a next gen console yet and I might sit this generation out entirely - more games end up on the PC than I have time for anyway. All I'm saying is that you might find that you change such that you won't continue to play the latest and greatest video games all through your life.

All the Kings Quest series. I remember in kings quest 3 my mom was such a fast typer that she would type all the spells for me at that point in the game (it was a time limit on getting it in or else you'd die and there was like a paragraph to type)

I remember my dad playing a little bit of Super Mario Bros. and maybe some Kid Icarus. I think those were the first two NES games I got.

We'd also play SNES Street Fighter II a lot.

holy fuck, i hear you on the microsoft golf

i used to go to work with my dad afterschool and i would ball out on that all day...he would start playing when things got slow....we set some insane rounds on that shit, along with a running competition we had to save the best replay, which led to a shitton of mulligans and some incredible shots

Super Mario Bros./Duck Hunt (NES)
Jackal (NES)
Bad News Baseball (NES)
Donkey Kong Classics (NES)
Golf (NES)

Animal Crossing (gamecube) We played the shit out of that game for like a year and half. I would come out of my room late some nights, and find him pulling weeds and catching fish. He was addicted to the fish catching aspect. His house sort of sucked, so full you couldn't even walk around.

The only one I ever saw was my father and Duck Hunt. Once during a church meeting at someone's home, the kids were gathered around playing Duck Hunt. When my father and several of the elders and deacons from the church saw what we were playing, they asked if they could play for a bit. They proceeded to clear everything that flew in the sky, reliving their army days (they were all former conscripts in the ROK army), and patting each other on their backs over their shooting skills.

my mom played a LOT of tetris, but that's about the only video game she's ever really played.

the first game i remember my dad playing (on a console) was dragon warrior. but he mostly plays computer games. i think he may play halo 2 on occassion now, but i haven't really lived with him in 9 yrs,

I just prefer to interact with people than stare blankly at a screen while pushing buttons. I mean, I have a Wii, and i play it once in a while, but I can't comprehend how people can spend 3 or 4 hours a day playing games.

I'd rather be out drinking, having sex with my wife, playing golf, working out... etc.

I taught my 80 something year old grandmother how to play this game. It was so awesome. She was really bad at it, but I thought that it was so cute that she wanted to learn about video games.

my dad had a coleco vision with all those different controllers and we would play the baseball game, rocky (rocky vs. clubber) and donkey kong

when i got the nes, we played duck hunt and mike tyson's punch-out (i remember him calling me at my mom's and saying he figured out how to beat king hippo)

he's played tiger woods on ps2 once with me and thought it was too complicated

also played tank w/ my stepdad on atari

F-Zero, my father loved that game.

I used to sit and watch/help my dad play things like Doom and Warcraft II back in the day. And we played some old Atari and various Nintendo games, SNES and N64 (MarioKart, Goldeneye, etc).
