But you guys are gonna keep arguing that you know more even though most of you have never worked for the company"

EVERY time I've been there with friends, parents, family to buy something, we have been HASSLED TO THE END for the extended warranties. There have been nearly a dozen times where the employee would literally not give us the product until we agreed to take the warranty.

On black fridays, I've been LIED TO MY FACE about having items in stock until I agreed to take the extended warranties.

I've watched people go through so much shit there due to incompetence and lack of knowledge or concern for the customer. Don't tell me "OH YOU DIDNT WERK HERE YOU DONT KNOW"

According to an account in the Baltimore Sun, 57-year-old Mike Bolesta was shocked to find himself taken to the Baltimore County lockup in Cockeysville, Md., where he was handcuffed to a pole for three hours while the U.S. Secret Service was called to weigh in on the case.

to reiterate on pg 2

and jackleg, most people dont have the tools to remove viruses from the BIOS. Viruses are near impossible to remove/and or clean, especially when in windows. They dont sell those tools in stores. Geek Squad does have them. So if a client has a virus but doesnt want to restore their OS, we can and will remove the virus for them.

ok i cant speak on behalf of all geek squad employees. I know our store wasnt involved in invading peoples privacy. There are shady people everywhere. So, sorry that happened.

i've also heard other horror stories, and our managers stress the importance of following procedure and respecting privacy. But there are always those assholes who will never listen. We keep them out of our store though.

i've posted about this before - the amount of loyalty some people have to employers like best buy - where the employee makes a very small amount of money while the employer is getting rich off of them - it's not like best buy is a career at the geek squad "agent" level and the employee is somewhat invested in the success of the company

i'd really like to see the geek squad find 2 oozed out capacitors inside a power supply with their "tools" that us normal folks dont have access to

then id like to see them charge the customer 35 bucks plus the cost of a new power supply. total.

GeekSquad explains to every customer that brings in a computer for Virus/Spyware removal that they need spyware and virus protection and the reasons why. If a customer declines its no longer best buys fault. This is NOT misleading. You can only lead a horse to water, you can't make it drink.

I specifically asked 'does that cover accidental damage, water damage, and theft?' The answer is 'yes'"

Read the fine print. It does not cover PC repairs. If you need a new mobo, you're fucked. Its such a lengthy process that if you use a computer for anything but playing games, it will cost you more in the long run with that much downtime.

If you're referring to A) - it depends.

If you're referring to B) - it depends.

It can, and sometimes does.

Do tell, exactly, how I'm "weird". Remembering the last time you ever interacted with me was ages ago, and that things like
- being ugly
- being fat
- liking to share porn
- being confident

are not "weird"

BTW, I was also referring to
- family
- coworkers
- classmates

it depends? It should never 'depend' on anything if its a working solution. I'd rather have a service plan that doesn't depending on anything then a sketchy homeowners insurance thats filled with if's and's or but's.

The only thing a service plan does not cover is software, and the easy fix to software is a full system restore which is free.

I'm not basing this on any physical aspects...because it has nothing to do with it, plus being 'ugly' or 'beautiful' is all in the eyes of the beer holder.

I'm basing this assumption on your posts.

The 'it depends' is 'it depends on the policy'.

Which is something you investigate before needing.

I covered the physical because some people really do think 'ugly = weird'

So, you're calling me 'weird' based on posts that
- aren't that unusual
- you don't know for sure are at all representative

...yeah, I'm weird, alright.

^there isn't a policy out there that says "if your computer is in need of repairs we'll gladly send it in for service and replace any parts for free, including labor and shipping." Sorry but there just isn't. And the ones that do have that are for major appliances NOT everything in your home.

Did you read where I talked about the valuable personal property endorsement?
Now, I know that USAA is a generous company, and completely awesome in every respect
...but lots of folks use USAA.

If I could vouch for the CC warranty stuff, I would. Not having first-hand experience, I won't.

Are you saying the BBs service plans cover that shit? General wear and tear and age? Well, I'm suprised. I still wouldn't buy one, though. Not from BB. (I did get one on my first laptop from Sam's, in 2003, because it was $20. That was one of those 'it's cheap enough that even if it sucks, it's no big deal' situations).

^yes it does. It covers battery replacement, because we all know batteries won't hold the same charge after 500 cycles as it did after the first cycle. It covers power surges, (now accidental although thats at an additional charge).

If its a video camera it covers cleaning etc...

What it doesn't cover is software. So don't be a dumbass and download a bunch of spyware infected porn.

hmm...i've lost track of which thread I was posting in, but in the other thread I guess in tech talk I was very negative towards best buy sales people. (same user, same thread, different section)

^i'm just well informed and have good experience as a customer with service plans. Always buy them on laptop's and tv's, and cameras. As far as consoles go, the manufactures warranty is stellar. Same applies to apple products. Never once had to buy apple care because their manufactures warranty was excellent.
