Admission price is going up to $7.00. The first increase in 14 years. At least the price of the ride tocket books stayed the same! (But you get 6 less tickets, go figure)

Each ride costs like $3 to ride, or more. That pisses me off, so I have only ridden like 5 rides in the past 2 years.

The wildlifers kill all the racing pigs as soon as the last customer leaves the fair on closing night. Then we go for the goats, gators, snakes, horses, chickens, turkeys, cows, and then the quail.

FACT.

eh, the only thing I care for there is the food and people watching. And I have a tough time paying a cover charge and parking fee to do those.

questions: How much does it cost to get into the fair and what does that price include?

[Edited on October 11, 2007 at 4:19 PM. Reason : NEVERMIND, I SEE IT NOW. someone told me it was $25 to get in.]

...I went today to buy tickets before they shut down advance sales

...the line from the booths at gate 11 was almost back to trinity road. Not worth saving the $1/ride sheet over buying them online.

Best food there. and I might be serving it.

I have said photo. It was difficult to find. Maybe I'll do a modern view of it later. I don't have any photos from the original downtown site though.

haha, realized after working the steakbooth that the steak sandwiches are $6, not 5. I couldn't remember. Anyways, everyone should come out tomorrow and try one and then milk a cow.

I will agree that the fried peanut butter cups were awesome, even though I almost threw up while I was eating them (way to much sugar)

The chicks, chickens and geese were cute, we didn't play with them this year, to many kids. Not enough ducks this year.

Fried cheese was good

Way to many people and we were all tired and kinds of hung over so it was just a long death march through screaming kids and stupid parents. 5th best fair I've been to so far. (I've been to 5 worked at 3)

On a side note when did parents start freaking out about letting their kids touch animals...."don't touch them you'll get sick".....no dumb ass wash the kids hands and they'll be fine.....I still want to see a kid get bit by a rabbit or a goat.....little bastards.....

we put out only 2 in each bin at a time, thats 8 total.

they are by farrrr the most popular things though and get the most tired and sore from handling.

we also have 2 chicks and 2 turkey poults in each bin...if you get lucky and im workin there I throw in some extra ducks every now and then(I prefer them any day.)

and yea, the parents are overly cautious but I dont blame them given whats happened in the past...

just one more benefit of growin up in the country.

(whats the game/games that everyone has been winning on? gotta get the woman a BIG BIG animal this week and wanna know)

You would be amazed at how many inconsiderate, lazy children come to ask about renting a motorized wheel chair. When I tell them $40 and a physical need they get all cutesy and ask "Well, what if I go break his leg!" I say "Then you'll be leaving the fair and going to the hospital. "

I ate fried pickles that were sooo awesome!!! Also a fried cheesecake is not that good, chocolate dipped would have been better. When I go back, I want corn and pickles again.

Actually, the parents are exactly who I'd blame, seeing as how
- few have proper control and discipline over their spawn
- some don't make their kids do things like wash their hands at the fair, because until a few years ago, it was such a hassle
- most have their kids leading overly cushy, sterile lives that leave them prone to getting sick from the few times they don't wash their hands

But that's another thread.

I spent way too much time playing the rifle game where you try to shoot the prizes off the wall with a corked rifle.

$2 and you play until you win. Almost knocked the Ipod off the wall a few times. Ended up with a paddle ball (that broke after the 2nd paddling) and a ball that looked like it was stolen from the McDonalds playpen.

I want to go back to the Fair and eat more food. All I ate yesterday was a corndog.

I can't stand parents like this. Unrelated to the fair, but one time I was working with kids on Farm animal day with the animal science club. This lady comes in with her kids so they can pet the cows. Those brats are all wearing rubber gloves.

that game with the ball and the ramp/incline where you have to hit the top and roll it into the basket below is easy! Best way to scoop up huge giant stuffed toys. I got a giant Mr. Wuf for puppy. Too bad they won't let me stay and keep getting prizes. I'll just get more on saturday. One ball is only $2, if the bookstore sold these wolves they would probably be like 20 bucks.

Rode the bus from N Raleigh (Wake Forest Rd) to the fair for the first time. $4 round trip ticket and being dropped off at the front gate > the parking hassles and the hike from Carter Finley or further to the entrance. The $10 worth of coupons from Subway was a nice bonus.

I tried one of those Reese's cups. Fucking nasty. Had a bite of my bf's fried snickers. Nasty as fuck

Had
- a polish sausage from mcbride's
- some ice cream (chancellor's choice: vanilla with raspberry swirls = pretty fucking tasty), but threw almost the whole thing away :-\
- an apple dumpling down by the village of yesteryear. Easily the best thing I had at the fair. (never had one before, because they've always been sold out)

pickles are ew, I wasn't hungry by the time it came time for corn, and I've had enough chocolate-covered cheesecake that it's not a big deal.

4hrs today, vs 4 days most years

...I even went to the fair HELLA hungry. We got there at 330, and all I'd had to eat today was a handful of cashews, and a bite of pizza I'd left out last night

some people were being jerks and kept stepping onto the road for no reason, so i gunned it and had 3 of them on their ass. it was rather funny and i was far enough away from the state troopers to make it worthwhile.

made sitting in traffic a bit bearable.
