Clearly, Amsterdam, every aspect of your life is bad ass - including what you eat for lunch.

Damn straight. Ronny told me to go so I went. Pretty fucking expensive sandwich, but god damn awesome. I had to walk the 4 miles back to my hotel just to burn off some of the calories.

It really is amazing how epic almost all food is in NYC however Katz wins it all hands down. I mean how many delicatessens pull thier pastrami out of the oven ??? most slice it off a log the bought from someone.

I will also give a runner up trophy to "the irish punt" near battery park , owner was awesome bartenders were great and food wad amazing.

↑ wouldn't that be an mb&j???

that pretty much made the thread worth the read

sometimes the psychological effect of paying high dollar for something can make the experience that much better

that's why I try to make my life better by believing that I just paid $20 to have the cow at dunkin spit in my coffee for lookin at her tits yeah this is #mylife

if only I could be on the golden streets of manhattan eating a 20 dollar sandwich. yep, that's the ticket - you sure showed me in this tdub thread. big loser I and we...all are

You can do so much better with $21 in NYC than that.

Katz's being one of them.

I wouldn't pay more than about $9 for a PB&J in NYC

and I'd probably get it from Peanut Butter & Co. on Sullivan in the Village

Pretty much anything is good if you break it down into its rudimentary form and remake it.

FOR EXAMPLE,

a hamburger is amazing if you buy filet mignon, grind it yourself, make a patty, and grill it

I also slice my own mushrooms

and guess what ladies, I am available....

MB&J != PB&J

If peanuts are Civics, macadamias are BMWs. And if peanuts are BMWs, macadamias are Bentleys. All implications implied (price, taste, rarity).

that's 16 dollars than it could possibly be worth

if you're gonna make jam you make a LOT, a gallon or more, or about 128 large servings (being generous here)

let's say that takes a hour of actual labor to make a gallon so 1/128 hour of labor so far

total cost is about $30 for 128 servings

the nut butter, $10/lb for the nuts, ~$1 for other ingredients per pound (spices to taste if you wanted) 8 minutes worth of work for 5 pounds $55 for 640 servings

bread cost is say at a retail level $10/loaf so $1 for 2 slices

comes to about ~$1.50 a sandwich, so they made a gross profit of $19.50 (minus a very generous wage for the owner and staff, still leaves $10 profit easily for the restaurant)
