Padres got the SHAFT on that call. I switched over to ESPN, and Scott Van Pelt was discussing the finale with Orel Hershiser and Tim Jurkjian. Van Pelt finally realized that he didn't hit the plate, and almost lost his shit. Hershiser agreed with him ... and Jurkjian switched the focus back to Hoffman choking.

Doesn't matter if he choked, that guy never touched the plate. The Padres got royally screwed on that. What a way to get knocked out of the postseason.

but its happened before to us and we got over it

Hoffman shouldnt have blown the lead, given up the hit, the throw should ahve been quicker the catcher more over the line the runner slower


there are SOOO many things...

the rockies were rolling...its past now...blown call or not its over. and he hesistated as an ump to make sure the catcher didnt still have the ball according to XM radio.

If the catcher didn't have the ball, then the umpire WASN'T SUPPOSED TO MAKE A CALL. The runner would not be safe or out in that situation, so it was the umpire's job to stand there and watch until the runner was tagged out or tagged the plate.
