I can't believe I'm going to geek out and do this, but I guess there's a first time for everything, and hopefully it'll be the last too...

First Contact - Save your franchise! Just add Borg and time-traveling!
IV - Star Trek brings teh funny.
VI - Cause zero-G Klingon blood just looks fucking cool.
II - Brain-eating sandworms ftw
III - Make your own Spock! Just add water!
-=-
Generations - We're running out of ideas, can you tell?
I - This is Voyager 6. If found, please mod and return to Sol 3. Thank you. -NASA
V - Star Trek gets religion.
-=-
Nemesis - Uhh, lets make the bad guys Borg Klingons facelift people Voyager 6 God whales.. the Romulans.
Insurrection - Who needs a plot anyway?

Winona Ryder = Spocks mother
Bruce Greenwood = Capt. Pike

^But at least the Q were interesting. That's really more due to John De Lancie's performance, but the concept of a god-like being that was perpetually fucking with humanity was intriguing. The real problem is when the writers castrated the Q (as well as the Borg) during Voyager.

"It is precisely because of shitty writing that Trek has become the joke that is. Not all the writers were bad, and the franchise did have its moments; TNG did get better as the seasons went by, and for all its flaws DS9 was a good series. But if you want really bad writing, look no further than Voyager. Every other episode was a holodeck malfunction, a transporter malfunction, something involving time travel that basically "reset" everything so that nobody died and nothing bad actually happened, etc. The concept itself was great, but nearly every episode was just mindless filler. And the episodes that did advance the plot tended to be weak and/or unbelievable.
"

most of voyager's episodes are expanding on concepts started in TNG (not to say I support that) so if you think the writing is lame and repititive for voyager than you must think TNG's is even worse, and if you take the average person's opinion of star trek I doubt it would have changed much since tng, if they didn't like the newer series he probably just wouldn't know anything about them

to continue this conversation off track: I thought Voyager failed to develop the characters individually. Every episode was about the entire crew, whereas TNG did a great job of exploring each individual character with multiple episodes focused on just 1 character. TNG also addressed current real issues and wrapping it in a futuristic environment.

That and I got tired of Janeway's flop between trying to be your best friend and being a hard-assed captain.

Fixed it for you.

TOS: Campy in a good way

TNG: Way too happy, first 2 seasons were pretty terrible, finally found its footing when Riker grew the beard.

DS9: Realized they couldn't make a show last if it just took place on the station, add Worf, the Defiant, and truly bas ass enemy = Trek at its finest.

Voy: Essentially the same as TNG, a concept most were tired of (holodeck malfunctions, showing people the Federation was the best way to do things etc) The majority of the episodes could have easily been set in the Alpha Quadrant and no one would have known. Also pussified the Borg and Q.

Remember the episode about the other Star Trek vessel that was in the Delta Quadrant, the one that had been beat to shit, no holodecks, and had to steal from other societies...that should have been Voyager.

Ent: Well, it tried. The first couple seasons suffered from "Lets talk about how X was invented", seriously transporters, photon torpedoes, red alert, holograms, replicators etc. Just because its a prequel doesn't mean you gotta touch base on everything that was in the other series. After they bought in a new writer, it got good, however not enough to make up for the damage caused already.

I sat down to watch the Enterprise twice, both times it turned out to be the same episode. It was the one where some people on a remote planet were being bullied by Klingons into giving them free starship fuel or something. Pretty much the plot of A Bug's Life set in the Star Trek universe.

It was pretty stupid. The people on the planet moved the town over by a few feet so the Klingons were tricked into walking into their fuel extraction field. The Klingons walked into their trap and were surrounded by a ring of fire.

So what do they do? They become afraid, beam aboard their ship, and never come back. Wow. Notice that one little tidbit? They beamed aboard their ship. You'd think they would just beam themselves out of the ring of fire and start slaughtering the village, but I guess that was before Klingons became battle hardened.

I gave the show another chance and when I tuned in it was the exact same episode. Never bothered trying to watch it again.

The dvds for enterprise were the last star trek I bought (meaning I had everything else already). Watched them all fairly quickly and actually got to like the show more than I thought I would. Dunno if it was just because it was the last series I watched or not.

The entire concept of prequels is fucking stupid to begin with.

HAY LETS GO AHEAD AND EXPLAIN WHY SHIT HAPPENED

OH WAIT WE CANT BECAUSE WE LOVE TO FUCK OUR STORYBOARDS IN THE ASS WITH TIME TRAVEL HORSE SHIT

I mean seriously, couldn't they just watch Star Trek 6 take notes, and make a movie like that? Hell, lie to me, take the same script, update the cast and ship, and do it again. I'll watch it. It'll be good. For the love of God.

There seriously has not been a single good sci fi film in the last decade.

The reason why I put III ahead of Generations is because the destruction of Kirk's Enterprise was one of the best scenes in trek history.
