"Some information i pulled up from edgeracing.com for the Falken 912's comparing to the Falken 512's.

Better Handling (wet and dry)
Higher mileage warranty (now 40,000 miles)
Better and more uniform wear
Fantastic Value
Quieter ride
Asymmetric tread design (which means you can rotate the tires front-to-back and side-to-side as you wish)
Wear indicators
4 wider circumferential grooves for better hydroplaning resistance
Squarer shoulder (improved “beefier” looks)

The only thing i dont like about these tires are that the new 912's do not have lip protectors, so you have a larger chance of curbing your wheel from the previous 512's that had lip protectors on the tires. As for that, i think the 912's are great tires. Hope this helps.

Who gives a fuck what the shoulder of the tire looks like? It does, however, affect handling and breakaway characteristics.

and wouldn't assymetrically treaded tires be impossible to rotate side-to-side?

If that's really a concern stop letting your girlfriend drive your car.

Called the store and they said they'd even give me 100 off in store, $12 to mount and balance, plug lifetime rotation and balance, as well as flat fix.

whatcha think?

thanks"

those are great tires. i use them on all street driven trucks. nary a problem, long wearing, quiet, good grip even in light snow.

the online deal is dead, but they still have the $100 off a set of wheels and/or tires for the stores. It's good until the 27th. You would have to deal with sales tax, but it's still a good deal.

damn o well. woulda been a good deal had i jumped on it.

i'm too lazy to look, is the service the same whether or not you buy the tires online or from the store, from the tire protection plan point of view?

when you go to get your shit mounted/balanced is it common for them to clean out all the brake dust/dirt for you? Would you be considered an asshole if you asked them to or maybe offered to do it yourself while they're all off? It's so much easier to get the wheels clean when they're off the car and i don't want to have to take them off one by one next time i wash the car.

well some places may do it out of courtesy.

they may clean some stuff off of it so it wont mess up the balance, but i dont think they will wipe it clean for yah.

im sure if there is nothing else going on they might let you clean them, but you have to convince them you will pay them extra while the car is on the lift, and where/how will you clean them at the shop?

some have a wash bay, but you probably arent going to be able to use it.

but its worth asking.

although rims arent very hard to clean on the car. so you may wanna just do them yourself.

well i can get most of the well clean with the brush i have, but it would seriously take 30 seconds per wheel with some degreaser if the tires off.

Merchant's and NTB are the same company, same prices. I can do 10% TWW discount on something like this. Perhaps more discount on other items.. but 10% is all I can do on something simple like that.

How much for mount/balance with lifetime rotation/balance? Which store are you at?

That would be 18.99 (they just changed the price this week, i'm pretty sure that's it) per tire.

So 4 x 18.99 = 75.96 + shop fee = 83.56 - discount = 75.20 + tax.

Not much I can do because I have to put a certain code on the ticket in order to give you the lifetime balancing. For just standard install I can do 40 + tax.

6120 Duraleigh Rd 27612... corner of duraleigh & glenwood, basically across the street from wal-mart. Also about 1 block up duraleigh from slowback's shop.
