shit, I could sit on my deck and get some deer almost any day. Nothing big, maybe 140lb, but they feed in our yard all of the time. Hell, I got in my car today without realizing one was only 15 ft away.

Deer are getting out of control. They don't even worry about cities and busy roads anymore. Pretty much anywhere with grass is a popular deer hang out. But, its not always easy to hunt them.

"and you'll be there to kill them. gg "

That is the plan.

it's remarkable how all those animals remain still for the photos

and they let you get so close!

haha

didn't really expect to see this thread rolling....

anyways, i have not really done anything since earlier this season, but i'm not really hunting as hard now. since i shot the 8 pointer, i kinda slacked off a little, and we have plenty of meat. i saw a couple today, but nothing big, or worth the trouble cleaning. tomorrow is another day, so we will see.

anyone else getting some thanksgiving hunting in??

^^^^jesus, it was hard enough to get my buck to stop long enough to shoot him yesterday, I popped him when he stopped long enough to try and jump a fence

at 200 yards

this toolbag doesn't need to hunt whatsoever

so, i got a few more today. i got a spike horn and a 6 pointer, both in front of dogs. i see we have some anti-dog hunting folks. just for the record, i like to still set just as much run dogs. i have alot of family and friends that run dogs, and its a good time to get together, so its something i enjoy doing.

anymore thanksgiving deer??

I killed a little 4 pointer saturday morning. It's obviously nothing to brag about, but my cousin from California is in town and wanted to bring some deer meat back.

I had just stood up to leave and go shopping in Raleigh when one popped out into a clearing. I thought it was a doe at first. Didn't see the antlers cause I was facing the sun.
It trotted along within 10-15 yards of me and if I had my 480 out I would have used that.
It walked kind of fast away from me and stopped about 50 yards away to eat something (still couldn't see the antlers cause of trees).
I popped it with the 308 and it ran about 50 yards. He left one hell of a blood trail. It looked like someone used a brush to fling red paint in a strip 3 feet wide between where he died and where I shot him.

I've decided I won't hunt that land again until they pick the soybeans...I had to drag that sucker 1/4 mile uphill before I decided to butcher it in the woods...then had to pack the meat out another 3/5 mile around the field to my truck.

haha yeah, dragging deer sucks

I thought I had missed mine the other day since he was so far away

plus I have been lazy and didn't shoot this rifle pre-season

but I knew I had put it right behind his shoulder...

plus after I shot he kinda "walked" off with his tail down and I was like... "nah I had to of hit him"

finally found a blood trail where I saw him go in the woods, he had gone about 20 yeards into the thicket and crashed... lung/heart shot ftw! I knew when I found bright red blood everywhere and found a bunch of blood with bubbles in it that he was close by

those georgia arms ballistic tips FTW (again)!

just cleaned up the rifle a bit and put some flip up scope caps on, I'm gonna give it a go in the morning again

so, the year is over. i ended up with 5 on the year, 3 bucks and 2 does. The bucks were an 8 pointer, 6 pointer, and 3 pointer. i had a good time this year, but was glad to see the season come to an end.

Season summary: one 8 pointer ~16" or so wide, one pig doe, and one buttonhead that was trying to eat my corn. Guess I didn't try particularly hard this year, only went hunting maybe 4 or 5 times.

^^ what you dont realize is that what is going on in this thread is completely necessary or we would end up like PA with dead deer all over the fucking road

PA's hunting season is really short

I ended with 2 does. Could have been 3, but I didn't want to kill 2 in one day. Pretty good for only hunting 4 times this season. I can't friggin wait for the 18th and 19th!!! WINTER TURKEY HUNTING!! I'm sooo excited!
