Yeah, the 37" Olivia TV is a pretty ridiculous deal. 549 for a TV, 10% off if you apply for a target credit card knocks it down to under $500. Not too shabby. Might be a decent second TV for the bedroom or something.

Still, black friday is something i don't anticipate ever dealing with. I figure my free time is worth at least $25 per hour (I'm talking bare minimum here), so if I'm waiting in line for 6 hours I need to save at least 300 just to make it worth my while to stand in line, then factor in the incredible misery of dealing with a crowd, lines, parking, everyone in there shopping being a complete asshole, etc. and you figure that's another $500 just to put up with that. So, unless I'm going to save myself at least a grand on something I actually want to buy and was planning to get I'm not going.

ended up getting an external hdd and two internal hdd at staples. Didn't get up early or anything, went in and it wasn't too busy and picked up the stuff off the tables. I needed the external and one internal for work, so that wasn't a big deal. The other internal was for another media drive at home. That was the only want instead of need purchase, the others would have been bought within the next week or two regardless of any sales going on. Home Depot had a few decent deals on stuff we could use around the house anyway, so got a few things there.

My Mom and I got up at 3:45 and I just happened to check one store online at 4am and was able to get the same deal online as in the store on this one navigation system for my Grandpa! I figured that it was an item that they would sell out of really quickly and be handing out papers for, so we went to this store in a small town (for some other things as well) and seriously, the people cleared out of the store by 6:30! I went to the back and asked if, by chance, they had any more of them - they had a WHOLE BUNCH OF THEM LEFT! I was really surprised, but I don't care because he will be happy either way; and I also didn't have to pay shipping so I didn't pay anything more than I would have in the store. So, next year, I'll be trying that again.

Wal-Mart and K-Mart both had good deals on toys, there are 8 kids under the age of 15 that my parents get gifts for - so we got their gifts while they were super cheap. The most expensive thing we bought was on sale for $15, and we got 3 of those! We also got a good deal on a SONY Cybershot for me since Grits broke my Canon camera. ( ) All in all, I am home by 12:30 and got everything we went after!

I have gone with my boyfriend's Mom the past 5 years, but this year, I went with my Mom for the first time since. She had a rotator cuff repair surgery and a carpel-tunnel surgery last week so she can't drive or push the buggy, so I got to be her bitch!

Sometimes, if they actually have the same item in stock (often the most impressive sales are on 1-generation old products anyways) and you can find someone with the authority to do it that isn't hugely busy. Basically, the time you'd spend at some places getting them to do price-matching can be more time than you would have spent waiting in line to get the item at the store that has it at that price.
