Illinois, Duke/Princeton, Xavier, Nebraska... doesn't look any easier than ours. We are just in a better conference depth wise... though the Pac-10 has more quality teams.

the sun devils are a little more on the run-and-gun side this season. they finally have a valid PG in Jamelle McMillan. he's a Degand type guy. very very quick, but not a great decision maker (not yet at least)

a lot of their games should be high scoring

but you're right, the Princeton game would be a real sleeper that would probably come down to a buzzer beater and a 38-36 final score

Eric Boateng is the worst McDonald's AA ever.

But I think it is funny that ASU had only 3 in their basketball history and now Herb has already gotten 2 there with Boateng and Harden. They will get better. Their team is probably the youngest in the country.

i have always been an ASU fan (because I grew up a big Barry Bonds fan), but I put them on the back burner til they hired my beloved Herb

so yes, the main reason I am a big Sun Devils fan is because of Herb

good game today, didn't get a chance to watch it because I don't get ESPNU at work. but they finally made some shots. the freshmen looked good. Boateng is worthless. Pendergraph isn't getting many touches, unlike last year and he is getting burned on defense. he better step it up before PAC10 play.

a win is a win....especially a blowout win.

next game is tomorrow in the 5th place game versus LSU who barely squeaked past Chaminade today

2pm on ESPN2

i was just asking cuz i lived in Tucson from 2004-06 and now I hate Arizona (U of A) Basketball bc of it. kind of like how i now take great joy in watching the lowly Huskers demoralize all the fans here in Omaha every week.

anyway i don't hate Herb...i want to see him do well and he will improve that program. he's an excellent recruiter and defensive coach. but i am also looking forward to the day when they will peak as a mid-tier team in the conference and the same arguments about his ability to take them to the next level arise...then maybe everyone who settled for his lack of progress here will finally see that he isn't going to take ANYONE to the next level

but as I've said several times, ASU is truly a football only school. if Herb gets them a) ranked every season, b) to 5 straight NCAA tourneys, c) a sweet 16, d) conference coach of the year then he will be a god in Tempe

^^^ no, but i'm saying that if there's enough interest to make him a "god", as you put it, then there'll be enough interest to upgrade after 10 straight years of being just barely decent.

[Edited on November 21, 2007 at 12:55 AM. Reason : ^ well, he took us to the next level from where we were. not the proverbial "next level"]

I get to see a lot of Pac-10 games and Arizona St might be one of the most improved teams in the entire country by seasons end. They have the talent to compete night in and night out in the Pac-10 this year. I don't think they do any better than 2 or 3 under .500 in the conference and get a NIT bid but they can ball..

In 2 years, if everyone stays and they stay healthy, this could be a Top 10 team... we'll see if that comes true but the talent and committment to defense is there.

43 points in the 1st half today. I'm going to watch the 2nd at work...

final in Tempe

75-41

TWELVE players scored for ASU. 15 from Harden, 14 from Pendergraph and 10 each from Shipp and Ty Abbott.

shot 47% and only allowed 25%

good confidence booster going into the Florida Gulf Coast game on Wednesday. they're in the same conference as Campbell, Mercer, Gardner-Webb and Stetson. they played tight with Iowa and Bradley earlier this season

big BIG game today

young team's first true road game versus a decent Big 12 team on national TV

just as with all Herb teams, it's all about how they shoot. 40% or better = win

expect big games out of Christian Polk and Ty Abbott

ESPNU at 2pm
