I wouldn't mind dating a girl that was worth sticking with for a while because I think eventually I have to tear my "walls" down and be the guy that I really am when it comes to women and not be so damned jaded and bitter because of my past... but I'm not gonna settle for a serious relationship with just anyone ever again either... settling sucks and leads to shitty breakups when it comes to the realization that you don't wanna get married to that person or take the next step

but also I'm not gonna refuse to hang out or see someone just because I don't think I'd wanna marry them and sell myself short on having fun and stuff

the thing is, you go out looking to get married and you're gonna get yourself a divorce one day...

and these girls that throw the marriage word around like it's the answer to all of lifes little issues and thinking that having the husband, the picket fence, and the kids on the swing is gonna make life perfect have to really think about what can happen down the road... divorces suck, paying lawyers sucks... much more worse than any breakup

those chicks looking to get hitched just because they are in a relationship and their clock is ticking scare the ever loving hell out of me... OK YAY WE'RE MARRIED NOW, OK KIDS WOOHOO LOOK AT US... 5 years later... you realize that person is not what you really needed, and you kinda hate them... now you gotta pay a lawyer, make your kids suffer, make yourself suffer, and just make things shittier than they ever were before you got in the relationship

^^^ I didn't say I wanted to get married. I don't take marriage lightly trust me. When I made this thread it was more along the lines that its been over 2.5 years that I've actually had a long relationship. I've dated alot but thats diff. from actually developing a relationship with someone and sharing a part of your life with them. Thats the part I miss and I feel like a failure because I look at all these people in long term relationships and am wondering whats wrong with me. I think I am a decent catch, but I must not be otherwise I wouldn't be complaining. Its hard for me to accept thats its actually the guys I date that have the issue. I don't know. either way its a bit depressing. It would just be nice to get into a relationship again, a meaningful one at that regardless if it will work out in the end or not.

my ex used to get so damn depressed and retarded when one of her friends would get engaged... I mean, it's dumb... don't worry about other peoples lives or relationships, worry about your own. some of her friends were getting engaged after just a couple months of dating... it was fucking creepy and she'd still flip out about it and I'd have to be like "who cares about what they do, lets just be happy"...

well, down the road I figured out that she was just a divorce waiting to happen and I ended it

I'm not against marriage or relationships... I wouldn't mind having either one day (if it's with the right person)

I could go on, but these are two very flawed stances to take, and you really oughtn't to. I mean, that's the sort of attitude that contributes to the deplorable state of the female gender, as a whole. Some women really do deserve the world, and some deserve absolutely nothing, in terms of relationships, but this is something you can change in yourself, and so long as you're taking care of that, eventually, the rest will fall into place.

Be happy with whatever you have at the moment, as much as possible. Don't go through life pining.
