do you hate all land grants equally, or just ones in the sec?

WTF one of the best and most respected coaches in basketball is hurting and you fucks come in here and argue southwest sports and which conference and shit like that. What is wrong with you all? Lute Olson is one of my favorite coaches for the way he carries himself and the way the team plays.

"and I can tell you, for 100% that Tucson is ALL ABOUT SPORTS."

hmm, well i lived in Tucson from 2004-2006 and I certainly don't remember it being ALL ABOUT SPORTS. If ALL ABOUT SPORTS means Arizona basketball? then yeah, ok. That is ALL they care about...or know about. Maybe a little about women's softball. UA is the epitome of a luke warm PAC-10 school.

And why is that?

"But Arizona isn't L.A...."

Because 90% of the student body IS FROM L.A. It is the O.C. removed. The other 10% are from Wisconsin or Minnesota.

Vanderbilt graduates haven't worked on the farm since they outlawed slavery.

well i was hoping to more than a out jaybee over that...

i'm in grad school now out at CU, and it's funny to me that, other than Vanderbilt, no SEC school is considered even halfway decent as an academic institution. I mean, the Big 10 schools have some decent athletics, but they're also pretty good colleges, with the exception of Ohio State. But the SEC.....garbage.

This is a gay argument but the SEC is pretty shitty compared to other conferences in the rankings. Via US News and World Reports Top 125 Universities/Colleges.

59 Georgia
91 Alabama
96 Auburn
96 Tennessee

Big 10
14 Northwestern
25 Michigan
38 Wisconsin
38 Illinois
48 Penn State
57 Ohio State
64 Purdue
64 Iowa
71 Michigan State
75 Indiana

ACC
8 Duke
23 Virginia
28 North Carolina
30 Wake Forest
35 Georgia Tech
35 Boston College
52 Miami
54 Maryland
67 Clemson
71 Virginia Tech
85 North Carolina State

based on those stats, State should consistently be #1 in the conference

if your hypothesis that academic ineptitude is postively coorelated to football success is correct

Um, wow.

I'd be kind of pissed if the coach of my school's team missed an entire season because he was getting divorced.

People outside Arizona and California will think about caring about their sports if people inside Arizona and California ever do.

I think this may be Lute Olson's awkward way of stepping down and anointing his "Guthridge".
