Obviously you don't log enough miles on your shoes. By the time your shoes are "so gross" its time for a new pair. Running shoes are tools. You use them, on the road, trails, and in the rain. They will get dirty, no need to wash them. If you're such a baby about the smell. Keep them outside.

^You are not serious with that statement. Are you not a Bio major?

[Edited on November 20, 2007 at 11:38 AM. Reason : Running shoes are a disposable commodity. IF, you are in fact using the to run.]

they're a disposable commodity, but so is everything else i wear when i run. that doesnt mean it just sits around and never get washed

hell, my boxers are a disposable commodity...but i still wash them when they're dirty because i have respect for the people i live with and like my shit to smell nice

some of us dont have the option of leaving them outside, and would rather not ruin them prematurely by undue exposure to the elements.

youre making ridiculous statements in the name of sounding like some bad ass runner, but you come off as a total chode

Not trying to sound like a "bad ass runner," I'm certainly not. But I've been running long enough to know that washing your shoes every day/week/month is a waste of time If you don't see that, go ahead and scrub along.

baonest, wasn't trying to hijack the thread. But if you're worried about athletes foot. Just wash your feet daily, dry them, and wear clean socks every time you run.

im not sure anyone is talking about washing them daily

the OP only asked, "is it safe?"

not

"should i wash them everyday?"

you've devolved the discussion beyond the scope of the original question and you sound ridiculous doing it
