I am one for vacations. I don't need stuff, but I love spending time together. For my bday my boyfriend took me to the Biltmore House for the weekend. It was one of the best gifts.

I need to think of some things for my GF.

She said she doesn't want any jewelry so that's good for me. However, I'm left with a blank about what stuff I should be shopping for, also the price range is between $30-$40 dollar bucks.

^^ I agree. experience gifts (a trip, dinner somewhere nice, etc) are always better than things. you'll have memories your whole life, those earrings will get lost in a move. and nobody ever tells stories about "remember the time I was wearing that jewelry???"

I can't say what I got my long term SO. As you know already, we've been together for 4 1/2 years and he reads tww. Some things I have gotten him in the past: some expensive sunglasses last Christmas - he lost them in March ; and for some reason I cannot remember what I got him the other 3 Christmases.

Suggestions?

We'll be on the coast during Christmas though. Not too much to do that wouldn't classify out of a regular old date.

I usually try and get her practical stuff that she'll use all the time. I tend to stay away from thrill gifts. I got her a webcam one year, a scarf another year, and last year I got her a nice mp3 player. I try to keep her up to date with computer stuff and technology as well as warm clothes. She uses those things the most out of other gifts she's gotten.

Are there any other practical gifts like those do you think someone may want?

I'd vote for trip.

If you're on a budget, take her to the zoo/planetarium/somewhere fun and take pictures. Frame the best picture of you guys and give it to her later as a "just because" present.
