If you need gluten free food in NYC you MUST stop by Risotteria in the village and Babycakes for the chocolate crumb cake (and some other stuff too, but I tried it and it was extra good).

Blue Ribbon on Sullivan St (between Prince & Spring) is fantastic. They have two restaurants on that stretch, Blue Ribbon and Blue Ribbon Sushi.

You should definitely check out McSorley's, not so much for the food but the beer, atmosphere, and history. Oldest bar in the city, survived Prohibition and has been around since 1852. Probably one of the oldest in the country. Its north of NYU and near St. Mark's.

mamoun's falafel on St. Marks has awesome falafel sandwiches for 2.50 and 3 bucks with hummus.

and St. Marks Market across the street has really good sandwiches.

Those are the two places I eat lunch at while at work.

oh also at the corner of Broadway and 4th st theres this greek couple with a cart that make the best chicken pita sandwich ever.
