i didn't want kids for somewhat similar reasons as republican, but when i had one, i wouldn't change anything.

i'm glad he's in my life and that i am young enough to run around and keep up with him.

kids just bring out reserve energy you never knew you had.

when my son was born, i didn't sleep for quite a while. it's was cool, i didn't notice. i was too busy admiring my handiwork. now that he's older and has increased his intelligence, i beam with pride. he doesn't have to be an extension of my hopes and dreams. i just hope that he treats people properly, is motivated to learn, learns from his mistakes and is a better person for it. it would be nice for him to be the next president, but you would have to be a very bad person to win.

some people just don't want kids.

I have a few friends who feel that way. They enjoy their way of life and their future doesn't include children. There's nothing wrong with that. I wouldn't call it selfish nor try and judge someone who feels this way.

My friends who feel this way are excited that we're expecting and happy for us. They've offered to babysit and will probably spoil our kids with attention.

sounds like Republican18 has put a lot of thought into his decision. There are sadly far too many people who don't put a lot of thought into whether or not they should reproduce.

Seotaji, sounds like you are justifying and trying to make the best of a bad situation. Lemonade from lemons, whatever cliche you want to use.

This is something that a lot of people do. I think the real test of if you enjoy parenting is if your kid was run over by a bus tomorrow, would you want to have another one? Or would you rather take a break?

What would make you say that?

I have loved more than I ever thought possible, and it was all taken away from me with a medical emergency (<1 hour between "wait, is something wrong here?" and death). I know the question I am asking, and I WILL do it all over again.

Enough of this, now answer the damn question. If your kid was abducted by aliens would you have another one?

And this answers the question.

Well I made the best of my accident, but I wouldn't do it on purpose!

Get the snip before it happens again.

So you wasted a bit of time to explain that NO you are NOT a parent. What trimester/month were you in when the 'baby' died? I didn't answer your question b/c I assumed that you were trolling. Loving more that you thought possible is a different thing entirely after the baby is born and you have something tangible for your efforts those nine months.

Well do it then. You seem rather gung-ho about it. Your attitude doesn't match your actions.

That's a good question. I'd probably so distraught that I wouldn't consider having another one for quite a while. Your question doesn't take into account human nature. You assume that everyone would feel the same way as you and want another child to fill the gap. It doesn't work that way.

Dude, I have never been pregnant, liked kids, or wanted to spend any time around them. In fact, I had my tubes tied. I am not the one that will EVER make the kid mistake.

My dog died, and I will get another one, yes.

The "accident" was getting a show line dog. Much less serious than having a kid.

WTF I never said I did this to give my life meaning. I was kinda fucking around and not doing a whole lot, but I was happy in my own way. I was going to school, but I hadn't made a career commitment at the time, so I was half assing it. I was partying, fucking around at school, and all that, but my wife getting pregnant and us having a kid kinda forced me to grow up a lot faster. Got a fulltime job, got our own place, went to night school, etc. One of those situations where you had to step up and be a man, which I had never really had happen before.

As for having another one if one of mine died, probably so, but thats a tough decision. We would be both mentally destroyed if that happened, but the other son would force us to get through it. And ultimately yes we would probably have another once we had finished grieving and decided we were ready again.

you can always make more kids. kinda like when the yukon runs over lassie you may mourn a bit but ultimately you can head to petsmart and buy another dog.

Repub, we agree on... almost nothing... but I'm with you here. I feel that if I ever did want kids, I would adopt, because there are FAR too many people in the world, and the last thing we need is more. If a kid needs a parent and I want a kid, I'll adopt someone who needs me.

That said, I'll probably never do either. I don't really want to be a parent.

I'm getting married next year, though, and my parents are NOT happy that I don't want to give them grandkids.

Xcchick (hi danielle!) hit it on the head here. She's one person who I'm glad is having kids

Oh, and allow me to say that I'm really glad to see so many people at this age saying they don't want kids. Maybe we won't overrun the entire planet with humans yet.

We are the people that need to be having the kids. Otherwise we will be outbreeded by the incompotent, lazy, unintelligent, & whoever else that occupies the lower echelons of society. b.c statistically they have more children. I'll probably grow up a little and have 2 kids or something, carry on the family name, and i can raise to be successful predecessors of myself. The alternative is a greater % of people like you see at Walmart

Well

See

You body at some point will say "alright fuckface, need to duplicate" at which points having kids will become a tolerable idea.

If you actually think you can resist this, then try not eating for two weeks straight and tell me how that works out.

However, I do believe that having kids when you're not ready is probably the surest way short of a gun to ending your life.

^^ well we do not need any more reactionary religious rights spreading hell and brimstone if we do not follow their moral standards.

The tax credits for having children should be capped. I should not have to pay to subsidize these people for having 15 kids.

After 3 kids, the tax credit should start to go away, so that having 6 kids makes your taxes the same as having none. Same with having more kids while on welfare, benefits go away if they are too stupid to keep their legs closed.

I am tired of my taxes paying women to have kids with fetal alcohol syndrome, or even to have any kids at all. Your choice, you should pay the FULL amount for it.

A visit to Walmart or turning on Ricki Lake illustrates our need for more proactive dissuasion of certain peoples from having kids

We? You're considering people on the fucking wolfweb as the higher echelons of society?

Yes. I do know that most of the folks on here are college students or graduates, and that puts all of us a cut above joe trailer park and jane welfare, but still. It just sounded all wrong to me. I do think it's a real shame when intelligent people decide not to have children, because of the potential that they're withholding. But on the other hand, I can fully respect the decision. And adoption is a good choice, as instilling a child with a strong work ethic and value for education will probably do more good than simply "good genes".

The good genes can't hurt either though.

Lawlz.

Metal, dude. I don't own anything with sequins. Only glitter is on a few pairs of underwear, and no you can't see them.

Here's me and the other bike (blue one)

Any excuse to post bike pics. They are much better than kids too. I can leave 'em unattended in the parking lot for a week and all they need is a little chain lube and air in the tires.

Yup, not a road I'd want to be a passenger on.

Lots of better roads out there with less traffic, I just go there for the start of rides because someone wants to buy a tee usually.

sounds like the movie Idocracy. in the beginning of the film they go through this whole speal about people who shouldn't be having kids overpopulating the earth. it's pretty funny.

anyways, i'm on the fence with kids. if i got married and my husband and i decided it was a good choice for us, i would be game. otherwise, meh.
